“Lovely comfortable stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2011

Spent 2 nights at this very clean and comfortable guest house and loved our huge room with a super king size bed, huge bay window, a very welcome hospitality tray and a comfy couch to relax and enjoy our tea and cookies. . Located in a residential area yet only a 7 minute walk to the train, bus and city centre. The Shepherd's were warm and welcoming hosts. Breakfast was plentiful and served with a smile. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable during our two day stay in Perth. The Rush/Mitchell trio from Transcotland.

“Worst place ever!!! Stay Away!”

We barely got in the door before they asked us to pay up. All payments were in advance, which is NOT how things are normally done in Scotland. I've stayed at over 20 hotels and B&Bs over 6 years and never had to pay in advance. Then, after she saw our card was not signed (a security risk in the U.S.) we offered to go to the ATM to go get her cash. We were tired and had been sight-seeing all day, and asked if we could bring our baggage to the room that we had already carried inside. She refused outright, and said that we weren't going any further before we paid, that we'd have to take our bags outside, and that if we liked, we could just go somewhere else. Immediately after that she said she preferred if we go somewhere else, and told us to leave. We had barely said a word during this, but promptly told her how rude she was being. She said that we were being rude, and told us to get out.
We were on our way out when we saw two other guests, and asked them advice on another B&B we could stay at. She came outside yelling at us and told us to get out of her driveway and stop talking to her customers. Then she started arguing with us, and with THEM about the rules of the place, and how rude we were. The other guests weren't even a part of that issue until she argued with them. We just couldn't believe how rude this woman was. There was no excuse for her behavior.
So there we were, just engaged to be married, on vacation, and looking for lodging and we're treated like trash. I've never had this horrible of an experience, here or in the U.S. I would give this place zero stars if it were possible, but it deserves less than that.

“Lovely ..................”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2010

Stayed here for 2 nites in April. The guest house is far enough away from the town centre not to be troubled by noise but close enough to walk in of an evening. The welcome was good and we were ushered to our double room ensuite which was lovely. This room was immaculate , hospitality tray was very good and breakfast provided a good selection all freshly cooked and cereals and fruit plentiful ( perhaps thats why one gent thought he'd have a whole bowl of grapefruit to himself one morning) Porridge we were assured was made the traditional way by soaking the oats overnite ....... a long forgotton art. Huge traditional breakfast with a choice of Haggis or Black Pudding. All in all a great 2 days ......... good hospitality , good location , great food , great room , all in all just lovely ....... Thanks

“Stay somewhere else”

I initially booked Aaron guest house after reading (both) the reviews on laterooms.com which described Aaron guest house as 'helpful and friendly' unfortunately not in my experience.
My reservation was cancelled within 24 of booking, and the room re-booked without allowing me the opportunity to correct a genuine card error (although why are they trying to debit my account when the card was only to 'secure' the booking??)
However the worst was still to come as my request for advice for an alternative B&B was offensive.
Could not comment on the rooms or food as did not stay here, and never will. Beware, you only get helpful and friendly once you've paid.

Whilst we are aware that this reviewer did not have a particularly good experience with our guest house, we would point out that in order to make a booking, valid card details are required. This is for the purposes of a deposit/full payment depending on the booking agent used. If prospective guests try to make bookings from cards that are declined, we are well within our rights to cancel their booking. We are ever so sorry if people take offense at this, however we cannot be expected to hold rooms for persons who may or may not show up, without some form of security.

A lesson to be learned may be that this reviewer may wish to read the full booking details before making any future bookings with any future establishment. Deposits and / or full payment up front are more and more the accepted way forward these days. This offers security for both the establishment and the prospective guest.

We do not feel that we have treated this reviewer discourteously in any manner and are extremely sorry if this person has taken offense where none was intended.

We do however feel that their comments are unjust under the circumstances

“Such a warm welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2009

We found the Guesthouse on the internet and thought it looked exactly right for our purposes - centrally located, possible with a combination of single room and double room, and a private parking space.
We got a lot more than we hoped for.
Very friendly hosts, absolutely super rooms - and delicious breakfasts (you could even have haggis if you wanted!!). The hosts made us feel very welcome - and we would rally like to come back, and warmly recommend this to others!!
