I was frankly a bit surprised to see the other reviews, as they seem to speak about another place. One of them even states "it's close to Edinburgh town centre", which I find it difficult to believe since the hostel is in Inverness!!!

Another review reported the hostel as noisy, but in the night it's actually quite peaceful and relaxing - the front door used to get closed around midnight and locked around 1. It was very fun to play card and talk with other people in the common room till late.

The dorms were quite clean and comfortable, the bathrooms were OK, and the overall place felt intimate. It was a really great place to stay. Oh, it was quite cheap as well!

deceptively big ,on the street side it appears small but from the riverside you get real nice views across the river to the theatre and ness islands.quite a pretty view.
good functional hostel but lacking atmosphere.as it specialuses in bus groups and the resulting herd mentality.Lounge would be packed one minute,empty the next and these groups are so tight room for one more does not enter the thought of the group.
There is a little walk up the hill besides the castle but it is still central and a shop half way up the hill meant that a quick hostel meal provisions was at hand
Kitchen was adequate and the rest of the hostel pretty much fitted that bill

The passionately disinterested staff placed ny partner and I into a room that had adopted the bodily odors of the long-term fellow living there. To add to that discomfort, there was some sort of drum-along to bad techno music thing going on downstairs (directly beneath my bed?) until long after I tried to go to sleep.

I would not return to this place.

Not knowing much about student accomodation as I'm 40 I was very thankful to the staff of this hospitality. Four Scousers on a jolly & we had to have an extra night in Inverness in Dec 06 due to extreme weather conditions at the airport. Sorted out at 10.30 pm. We were very grateful. No-where else left to stay in the town. Room clean & very warm. Residents (from numerous countries)friendly if a little perplexed at four 40 year old plonkys singing to Pink Floyd & Led Zep!!! I hope you got your revising done in the end, sorry?! Didn't think I'd ever get to stay in a Yoof Hostel!!!

12.50 pounds. Very good value. Once again thanks.
