“Ugly place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2010

I would never choose this hostel again. I stayed in many hostels, also in east europe, but this one was the worst. To reach our room we had to cross another room! so we always disturbed the people staying there. Unbelievable..
Only two showers and three toilets for the whole hostel and not always cleaned up. First night some drunk people screamed on the street for quite a long time.
If you have the chance to choose another hostel do it!

“Rudest reception staff ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2009

I just wanted to warn people about this place: My girlfiend and I were waiting 25min to check in because the receptionist was drunk, and he was abusing two Asian girls who were checking in before us. He was so rude to them that they left the building crying. The rooms were dirty with stains all over the carpet and the toilets were easliy the worst I've seen in the UK. We have stayed in some dumps in Eastern Europe, but you put up with that when you are paying £5 a night, even though this place is cheap, its not worth it! If we had our time again we would have walked out with the girls in front of us!

“stay away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2009

Well I booked that hostel for 3 days with my girlfriend, but after the first night we decided to move away. First of all when we arrived there was a party or something like that. Lot of noise and people drinking, that could be ok. The problem is that it took 25 minutes to make a silly check in. The owner says us that one shower is broken and that shower was the one next to our room (the wc is shared). I stayed in a double room and it was a disaster. The carpet was old and dirty with a big (1 meter diameter) spot in the middle of an unknown liquid. In front of the room there was a shower which was broken since I dont know when, there was an horrible smelling in the air. The room was quite small with a huge window and broken curtains. There was a column of an old wall inside the room. The beds I have to say they were ok, and the sheets clean (at least). And now the worst part. The wcs. There was no difference between men and woman, one wc for both. They were unclean (in the morning I found somthing brown on the sink while brushing bleaaaahhh), and broken (the shower was super small and leaking), and there was no wall between different toilettes, just a wooden pseudo wall. In the night it was impossible to sleep cause people was knocking continuously on the door or even trying to come in. It was a nightmare. The price for all that was even too much (35 pounds for each night) and when we decided to go away they didnt give us any money for the other days we booked (that could be reasonable). One good thing was that internet in the main room was for free (not really a miracle nowdays).

I am quite a grunge guys, its not that I am a business man or so, but believe me ... that's too much. I dont know what this place would be good for. Stay away.

“Cheap...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2009

I was amazed at the price, £10 including "a continental breakfast", a great price for a good location, I only recomend staying here if you are REALLY budgeting. Having travelled in Africa and Europe I have stayed in many, many hostels, I tend to find that a good hostel don't neccasarily depend on cleanliness and comfort, they can make up for it in some other way , however it seems in this case that rules doesnt apply. The place was flithly, there were only 2 working showers for the whole hostel, the kitchen was tiny, the beds old and very uncomfortable (unless you like springs digging into your back), scabby blankets, cold staff, sub standard bfast (which you'll be lucky to get any of unless you are up at the crack of dawn, the most irritating thing is the fact there are rules plastered all over the walls asking you to respect a place that clearly cares very little for the customers or service!

“I wouldn't stay here again, so unclean & loud, ibut you can't beat the price.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2009

This is the truth with no exageration. Every night is a party at this hostel, which for some may be nice. However, if you want any peace or cleanliness at all, go elsewhere. Knowing that every night is a party you wouldn't be surprised that the music, played by the saff, goes 24 hours a day and during party mode it is very loud - which is from dark until around 3 or 4 in the morning. Also, every day we were there (3 nights) there was vomit in the bathrooms; on the walls, on the toilet, etc. And not just one bathroom, but several. One night I actually saw a guy vomit in a cup in the kitchen, and the vomit ran over on to the floor. Also, this was a cup that belonged to the hostel, and was therefore washed and used again by another guest. The showers were very unclean, actually filthy, and the shower heads were detatchable, but since the part they attatched to was broken they just hung down. Also, on the second floor there is no toilet and in order to use a toilet you had to go up a flight of stairs or down. This in its self wasn't a problem, but I saw one of the guys, who got stumbling and underwear wearing wandering drunk every night would go to the shower and pee in it, and then stumble back to bed. The kitchen was small and the free breakfast is only the cheapest cereal with white toast and butter - which, actually they didn't always have. Also, breakfast wasn't always served on time. The two girls that clean there are great girls and do the best they can, but its just to much for them. Also the staff was very kind and helpful- they are just overwhelmed. The room we stayed in had over 10 beds... I think closer to 14 and was pretty sparse, but really, it would have been okay if not over the lobby where the music was being played. Oh, and there is parking, although it isn't free and make sure you keep the meter fed and your ticket is placed in your window, right side up. We got a 60 pound ticket because the cop couldn't see our ticket.
