“Kind of terrible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Hm.. where to start? This is the cheapest hostel in Glasgow - so you definitely get what you pay for!
Let's start with the positive; fantastic location; close to a lot of shops, in walking distance from the central train station and close to Kelvingrove!
And now to the negative; the breakfast which was included in the price was locked up (we decided to go elsewhere), we had to go through another room to get to our room, the walls were very thin - and people in hostels tend to be rather loud even late at night, our room smelt like there had been a small fire in there so we had to keep the window open at all times - which was good because we couldn't really close it, only two baths and three toilets for the whole hostel + no 24 hour reception which meant that we had to get up in the middle of the night to give back our keys because we were leaving to early in the morning for anyone to be there to take them, oh, and I almost forgot, there are no lockers or anything for locking up your stuff when you go out - if you are staying with other people you'll just have to trust them!

“Scruffy but cosy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

Nice hostel in the middle of Glasgow. Extremely helpful and friendly staff, free internet, free breakfast, not so bad beds which all together makes this hostel good value for your money during your stay in Glasgow. I like the atmosphere the most, cosy, relaxed and benevolent, I had really a good evening and night there.

“Ugly place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2010

I would never choose this hostel again. I stayed in many hostels, also in east europe, but this one was the worst. To reach our room we had to cross another room! so we always disturbed the people staying there. Unbelievable..
Only two showers and three toilets for the whole hostel and not always cleaned up. First night some drunk people screamed on the street for quite a long time.
If you have the chance to choose another hostel do it!

“Rudest reception staff ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2009

I just wanted to warn people about this place: My girlfiend and I were waiting 25min to check in because the receptionist was drunk, and he was abusing two Asian girls who were checking in before us. He was so rude to them that they left the building crying. The rooms were dirty with stains all over the carpet and the toilets were easliy the worst I've seen in the UK. We have stayed in some dumps in Eastern Europe, but you put up with that when you are paying £5 a night, even though this place is cheap, its not worth it! If we had our time again we would have walked out with the girls in front of us!

“stay away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2009

Well I booked that hostel for 3 days with my girlfriend, but after the first night we decided to move away. First of all when we arrived there was a party or something like that. Lot of noise and people drinking, that could be ok. The problem is that it took 25 minutes to make a silly check in. The owner says us that one shower is broken and that shower was the one next to our room (the wc is shared). I stayed in a double room and it was a disaster. The carpet was old and dirty with a big (1 meter diameter) spot in the middle of an unknown liquid. In front of the room there was a shower which was broken since I dont know when, there was an horrible smelling in the air. The room was quite small with a huge window and broken curtains. There was a column of an old wall inside the room. The beds I have to say they were ok, and the sheets clean (at least). And now the worst part. The wcs. There was no difference between men and woman, one wc for both. They were unclean (in the morning I found somthing brown on the sink while brushing bleaaaahhh), and broken (the shower was super small and leaking), and there was no wall between different toilettes, just a wooden pseudo wall. In the night it was impossible to sleep cause people was knocking continuously on the door or even trying to come in. It was a nightmare. The price for all that was even too much (35 pounds for each night) and when we decided to go away they didnt give us any money for the other days we booked (that could be reasonable). One good thing was that internet in the main room was for free (not really a miracle nowdays).

I am quite a grunge guys, its not that I am a business man or so, but believe me ... that's too much. I dont know what this place would be good for. Stay away.
