“Friendly Staff and Easy Train Access”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I recently accompanied my husband who was on a business trip and we stayed at the Beveridge Park Hotel in Kirkcaldy.
We were booked for 13 days, and when there was a problem with the original room, the owner of the hotel upgraded us to an executive suite for the entire stay, at no extra cost.
The room was comfortable and relatively quiet.
The bathroom was large with a heated towel rack and new facilities.
The room offered free wireless. There was a hot pot with tea/coffee available as well as an in room hair dryer, iron and ironing board.
The stay came with breakfast every morning, and we were treated like special guests each and every morning by the staff. We generally ate home made porridge (which was heavenly, by the way), but we opted for eggs one morning, and we could have had the traditional Scottish breakfast, but passed on that.
What makes this hotel the most attractive is its proximity to the train station. One only walks around the back of the hotel, crosses the street, and walks a block, and you are in the door of the Kirkcaldy Station.
The area is extremely safe, as it this hotel is located in a very nice neighborhood, directly across from a church and within a block of a very beautiful park.
Rarely does one find such convenience in such a desirable location.
The station runs trains to Edinburgh several times per hour.
I highly recommend staying here.

“Reasonable value hotel, easy access to train station”

First impressions from outside was that the hotel looked ok (not as nice as on the photo's I'd seen on internet) & had a large car park. Only 5 minute walk from train station which is great if you have luggage.
Walk into city centre is approx 10-15 (though be warned there isn't much there & hotel had no maps of local area!)
Inside the hotel seemed well decorated & the bar area looked warm & cosy.
The reception staff however were not so warming! One lady at reception said 'are you waiting to check in'?, we replied yes, she then walked off & never came back over to us, leaving us standing there like idiots! When we eventually did get served the staff seemed very uninterested - no conversation made, no apologies etc. The lady told us breakfast would be served between 8-10 & then asked what time we'd be down! (I'm on holiday I'll be down when I'm down!). I made some enquires as to what they serve in their restaurant (as she never bothered to ask if we'd like to eat in the restaurant), the lady quite openly told us that we'd need to be down by a certain time to take advantage of special prices (I think it was 7) otherwise their A la Carte would be very expensive! I can't quite work out what she mean't, either she was doing us a favour or clearly thought that we didn't look like we could afford their A La Carte!!
Just for info, the disabled/easy access door only seemed to be accessable from inside the hotel (clever idea!!), no good when you have luggage or a wheelchair trying to get into the hotel!!
Anyway onto our bedroom, twin room - dark purple decor made room dark even in broad day light, lighting in room wasn't enough to lighten room, very dated & depressing! On a plus side beds were comfy, room & bathroom
clean, got a good nights sleep.
Breakfast - adequate. Not enough fruit juice choice, only orange & no fresh fruit (only tinned). No menu to look at, just got offered either Scottish or English breakfast. Tea served by the cup (in a jug like coffee is served), a fresh pot of tea would be far better.
On average ok, staff could have made stay more welcoming (they didn't even ask if we'd enjoyed our stay when we checked out or wished us a safe journey!).
From reading other peoples reviews of this hotel & from hearing the staff talking to other customers it would appear that they pick who they want to be nice & polite to! I guess we didn't fit their clientele critieria! I probably won't be coming back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Tell the staff you don't want one of their dark depressing rooms!

We stayed at this hotel for only 1 night and did not enjoy my sleep at all,My room was FAR to hot to try and sleep and with the hotel being on a main road the noise with the windows being open was just too much.

Room Tip: Try to sleep in a room at the back of the hotel.

“Very pleasant staff”

Stayed for a night and had a wonderful experience. I was allowed an early check in at 6 AM even without requesting previously. The staff(reception, bar and restaurant) were very friendly.

Room was clean with adequate sheets, pillows and coffee equipment.
The toilet and shower(no bath) were tidy and appeared recently renovated.
Breakfast was adequate(included in room rate). Supper is served till 9PM,
for night owls I suggest the takeaways nearby. The hotel is a short walk from the station.

Room Tip: Facing the road rather than the rail track to avoid the noise from passing trains.
