We attended a super wedding reception here this weekend. Function room was set up to a very high standard. The food for a large party was very good. The staff were helpful and friendly. Bedrooms very clean and smart. Breakfast very good.

Well, until this evening we were fairly regular customers here - we live locally so have come many times for meals and drinks. Tonight we came as a party of 12 for a birthday dinner, which we had booked well in advance, only to be left waiting, waiting, waiting, first to place our orders, then for the food itself. An hour and a half to be exact, and when it did finally arrive it was mediocre to say the least, and in one case at least, inedible. The birthday boy was very disappointed, not to mention embarrassed that his nearest and dearest had such a dreadful dining experience. Needless to say it spoiled his birthday. The waitress did her best to apologise, and to her credit she heavily reduced the bill, but hardly the point! If you can't cope with a table of twelve on a Monday night then don't take the booking! Very, very disapointed and won't be going back :-(
We attending an amazing wedding recption here this weekend. The food for a large party was top class.
The staff were very good at their jobs and all of them had a smile. Lovely setting in a tiny town..I only saw the honeymoon suite..WOW. I would like to come back here for a long weekend
Our stay at the hotel was fantastic. We were greeted by Sean, the owner, who arranged for assistance with our luggage. All of our needs were taken care of promptly and efficiently. The rooms were full of charm and character. The free hot breakfast was quite a good change from the usual pastries and cold cereal that we get in the U.S. We were easily allowed to change from one night to two nights stay. It was well worth the 45 minute drive(as the frightened U.S. tourist travels) from the airport to this beautiful village and its charming hotel.
Judging by previous reviews, this hotel has obviously undergone a big change for the better recently. Stayed for one night on 28th May as we were attending a wedding reception in the hotel's function suite and we found this to be an excellent place to stay.
We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted by a nice, helpful man (might have been the manager, not sure) who checked us in and showed us to our room. The room was a good size, neat, tidy and clean. Everything we needed was in the room, including an iron & board, the usual coffee/tea making facilities and a large screen TV. The bed was very comfortable.
We unpacked and headed down to the bar/lounge/restaurant area for some 'refreshments' - this part of the hotel was very good and the bar/waiting staff we very helpful and curteous. The food seemed to be going down well with various guests and walk in patrons. Prices were reasonable and the food definitely smelled good. The seating is great too, including several tables with comfortable sofas to relax on. We had a great night at the wedding reception in the suite and retired to our room quite late. I can't comment on the sound proofing as we were both asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillows due to an evening of excess!
Next morning we headed back down to the restaurant/bar area for breakfast and again staff were very good. We had the full cooked breakfast which was excellent (and much needed).
Overall an excellent hotel, with great service and nice rooms. We'd certainly go back here if we need a place to stay in the Glenrothes/Markinch area again.
