This guest house suited my personal taste -- Lovely old house furnished with a few exquisite antique pieces. It was in no way perfect or pristine. But it had an abundance of charm and character. There are only four guest rooms here. The rooms are quite comfortable with layers of quilts and linens. You may get a bigger tv, you may get velvet drapes or maybe lace, you may get a shelf of books -- in a romanticly haphazard lived-in gamble of which room is available. (I stayed in two different rooms on two occasions. One had a bath inside the room, the other required stepping into the hallway. The latter has the beautiful original tile.) Breakfast was enormous -- hearty, filling, delicious -- served on fine china. The garden was small and pretty. The owners were warm and helpful. But they do have their expectations. Please call them if you anticipate arriving after 6:00. Check out is prompt. They do not accept credit cards. There is a very friendly large dog on the premises who is wonderful with children. The location is good -- just a few bus stops from Haymarket train station. You can go into town on the 22 or the 31 bus for 80 pence. But have exact change. The airport bus can pick you up or drop you off practically in front of the guest house.
