Hi, I have just got home after spending three nights in the lovely city of Edinburgh. I chose this accommodation because it looked good value for money.
This accommodation is actually part of Edinburgh University, but it opens as a hotel during the summer recess, which is a good idea. There are various buildings - I was in Baird House. It took me about 20 mins to walk to the city center.
I really liked it. In particular, the breakfasts were fabulous! You could have whatever you wanted! Personally I do not eat the bodies of dead animals, but there was still a huge choice for me, and plenty of it. Everything from fresh fruit, fairtrade tea, coffee and juice, cheeses, cereals, eggs, anything!
The room was comfortable. There was no shower in the room, but this was literally just across the corridor, about 2 yards away, so no problem. There was a sink in the room, with hot water. Very comfy bed, where I slept well the first night (unusual for me). Tea and coffee in the room.
Things were a little bit noisy the first night (Saturday) due to a band on somewhere, but this was far enough away that I got to sleep OK. The other two nights were really quiet.
The only out-point for me was the shower, which was awkward and difficult to use. Fixed to the wall (not adjustable) it jutted out at an awkward angle from the corner. I could hardly turn the knob to get the water to come out of it.
Other than this, the accommodation was fine. I liked it, and I would be happy to return.
