really nice hotel in the capital! I stayed in the executive suite and was told it was the biggest room in the Hotel! it was a beautiful room and had a huge private balcony! Only downside is I felt the tv was very small for a 5 Star hotel and especially for it being the biggest room in the hotel! food was excellent!

A bit late writing this review as me and my daughter travelled in October 2011, but what a fabulous hotel! On arrival the staff ensured we were welcomed excellently, taking our bags literally at the door which was great after a long train journey! Check in was easy and we were shown personally to our room which was lovely. The hotel is very quiet and peaceful, and the staff ensured all our needs and wants were met. Our room had a gorgeous view over Calton Hill and the city with a balcony which was huge! Breakfast was cooked perfectly, and the continental part offered a lot of different choices too! The personal touches at the hotel are so nice, there was always someone around to help carry shopping bags or drinks from the self service bar back to the room. There is literally nothing to fault about this hotel, location is great and it takes around 10 minutes at the most to walk into the centre. We will definitely be visiting again soon! Just returned from a weekend away with my husband where we stayed at the Glasshouse. Warm, efficient and friendly welcome where we were made to feel that nothing was too much trouble. Our suite was stunning overlooking the front with a huge balcony. The room had absolutely everything you needed including a little decanter of whiskey which my husband enjoyed. The rooms were beautifully appointed and the bathroom was lovely especially the underfloor heating. Loved the idea and made good use of the honesty bar in the Snug. The full Scottish Breakfast was delicious too and good value at £12.50 though think that may have been a weekend offer.
If I'm being pernickety then I would have liked a docking station to play my music through as although the music system in the room was good, not many people travel with CD's nowadays. I will definately be recommending this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh and plan to return in the not too distant future. Big thumbs up!
