After a LONG trip up, we arrived at The Place to a very friendly and helpful receptionist (Petra I think?) who couldn't do enough to help. We had a minor issue with our allocated room which Petra dealt with quickly and efficiently and the outcome of which exceeded our expectations!
Our new room was stunning! The bed was the largest I've ever seen, as was the room, the lampshade etc..! The room had it's own sitting area, a beautiful en-suite, three floor to ceiling windows which had a wonderful view and a funky light with changing colours! Everything was spotless. The room was at the back of the hotel, which we were grateful for as the previous room had been located at the front and did seem a little noisy due to the traffic. We were disturbed during the first night by what seemed like a party going on until at least 3 am. However, once alerted, the night staff dealt with the situation quickly.
We spoke to a few different staff over our three days and all of them incredibly helpful, suggesting places to visit, giving directions to ice-cream parlours and even posting our post cards for us! Your staff are a credit to you!
Breakfast was good although choice was rather limited in comparison to some lesser rated establishments we have stayed at. However, everything we had was delicious and beautifully cooked. I would recommend having the Scottish breakfast just for the haggis if nothing else!
The car parking was a welcome addition (although we did have to pay for it, £12 per day which believe is a good price for Edinburgh).
In summary, a stunning hotel which we would highly recommend to anyone who likes a touch of luxury for a superb price.
