“Salad Cream with Nachos!”

I have just had a terrible meal at Bar Java. This place used to be famous for its nachos, so we ordered some. We could not believe it when they came with SALAD cream instead of sour cream, a disgusting combination. When we complained to the (French) chef he insisted it WAS salad cream (so I spelt the word sour for him) then gave us another sauce, red, unnamed, quite sweet, but NOT sour cream or anything normal for nachos. The chef is French and obviously had some problems with language, but this was not a language issue, NO chef should make that mistake. He seemed to think it was NORMAL to use salad cream, so he obviously had NO IDEA of how to make such a simple dish and what's more the dish that Bar Java had been famous for. (The menu says "Our legendary Nachos", oh yes , and mentions sour cream too.)

Although staff friendly enough there was a distinct lack of organisation.People seemed to be scurrying about not kowing what they were doing.Appeared very unorganised and not much time for customers.Appeared to take more time over friends,

This bar may be a reasonable place to go and have a drink- great decor, even if the range of drinks is limited.
We booked two nights in the rooms (no en-suite bathrooms) which are above and behind the bar itself. After we unpacked we were asked to move rooms because they had lost the key to our original room. The noise levels in the room were unbearable. Despite the staff being on site, no-one intervened when people were shouting at 3 and 4 o'clock in the morning, slamming doors so hard that objects were falling off the furniture on to the floor.
The staff were less than apologetic the next day (we cut short our stay) and when we wrote to the proprietor with our comments (he wasn't there when we stayed) he didn't take the time to reply.
