Just returned from a couple of days in Edinburgh and stayed here. First impressions are important and this hotel gives out good ones as soon as you walk through the front door. A very warm welcome from the staff, very courteous and helpful and a fire in the lounge on a cold winters day is always a welcome site. Our room was not one of the rooms shown on the website but this did not detract, it was spotlessly clean, a very comfortable bed, flat screen tv ( that could actually be watched, unlike some other places i've stayed) tea/coffee and a clean bathroom with plenty of towels etc. A real bonus is free WiFi throughout the building something other hotels charge for and a very welcome service. The bedroom furniture need updating a little but apart from that a very nice room. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the concierge 'Scott' deserves a mention he seems to be a font of knowledge. We didn't have dinner their so I cant comment on the dinner menu but breakfast was delicious, a choice of cereal fruit juice etc and a cooked to order Scottish breakfast was delicious so much better that the usual help yourself buffet, the restaurant staff were also lovely, keeping the really good coffee coming until i floated out I (love my morning coffee) . This hotel is about a 20 min walk from Waverley railway station or the no 36 bust from outside the station stops a few hundred yards from the hotel. It is well worth the trouble getting here and I highly recommend giving some of the others nearer the city centre a miss.
Giving them a try I don't think you will be disappointed.
