“Luxurious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Spent one night here between Christmas & New Year. Rooms are very ornate, padded fabric walls, heavy curtains, lots of dark paintwork. Staff pleasant, waiters & doormen in full kilt outfit.Food was delicious, had gone for the DBB deal so did not try a la carte. Full scottish breakfast with plenty of choice. Would return again, will look out for deals as it can be expensive.

Room Tip: Sure all the rooms are excellent.

“Luxurious but relaxed hotel - perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Incredibly sumptuous hotel, but not remotely stuffy or formal. It really was one of the loveliest hotels I've ever stayed in. The staff were all superb too - all so friendly and welcoming. Our room (no. 5) was stunning and quiet - with double aspect windows to the golf course and Arthur's seat. We also ate at the Rhubarb restaurant. A very grown up, romantic affair in an atmospherically-lit room. The food (and service) was superb. Highly recommended!!

Room Tip: No. 5 has double aspect windows.

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We got engaged at this hotel last year and decided that our last 'sinful' night away before marraige should be here. It was as we remembered, the reception and restaurant staff were extremly friendly and couldn't help us enough, they even did some photocopying for our marriage forms. We dined in the Rhubarb restaurant, we felt so relaxed in there that we didnt even notice 2 hours had passed. It was an atmospheric room, with staff serving the most delicious food. Afterwards, we went upstairs into one of the lounge areas, to sit back, relax and have tea and biscuits, next to an open log fire.... Not a television in site.

We stayed in the Alan Ramsay suite, it was a beautiful room, decorated in lavish antique furniture. On our arrival we had a bottle of champagne and fresh homemade cookies waiting on the table. We have been lucky enough to stay here twice and I would say that please dont feel you need to book into a suite to get a better room, we stayed in one of the luxury double rooms, which is probably their "standard" room - this was a fantastic room and large enough for a couple. Our suite had a seperate lounge area so if space is what you need then this will suit you.

We truely had a fantastic time away, every member of staff made it better in their own individual way. We would like to thank all staff for making it a fantastic place to stay. We will be back next year to celebrate our first anniversary, I can't wait

“Champagne afternoon tea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Went here on a sunday afternoon earlier this month. The Champagne afternoon tea was a birthday present for my girlfriend and it turned out to be a very nice treat! Service was excellent in general, though one of the staff appeared to be a little less comfortable in their role than the others. Food consisted of sandwiches, scones, and petits fours. Really good quality. A glass of champagne and unlimited tea/coffee was also included and along with the atmospheric surrounding of the tapestry room and a sofa to lounge on next to the log fire - are high expectations were definitely met.

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My wife and I have just returned from 2 nights in the owners suite (19th / 20th Jan) and can thoroughly recommend the hotel. The staff are efficient and friendly with the suite being clean and a unique experience. We ate in Rhubarb on one night and the meal, service, location and atmosphere was perfect, both breakfasts also lived up to expectation. This is our second time in the hotel and are already looking forward to our next visit.
