“Period Guest House in good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2010

Elderfields is conveniently located to the Royal Mile. The prices are very good and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Some rooms are smaller than others, but all are just fine for a stay in the city. The guest house is Victorian and very well kept in the period. The breakfast was the biggest let down. Cold pancakes, small portions of fruit, yogurt, cheese, meat and toast were served every morning. Although I have no problem eating these things for breakfast, the quality of the breakfast served was not good. Also, the owner requests payments to be made in cash.

“nice location, nice rooms”

a nice B&B very close to the beautiful Holyrood park and 5-10 minutes walk to the start of the Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace. The room was nice and clean. Nothing special but everything was there, the owner friendly and the price reasonable (64 Pound for 2 people). the breakfast was basic, but good.

“Lovely and great value for money”

I stayed at this guesthouse in Febuary with some friends, we were in Edinburgh for a birthday. I can't fault this guesthouse, the rooms were cosy and clean, and it's a beautiful old house full of charm and antique furniture. The owner couldn't have made us more welcome - there was a power cut in the street as we arrived and she went out of her way to deal with the situation. (The power was quickly restored). The breakfast in the morning was delicious and more than we expected at the price we paid.
It's in a good position, especially if you want to walk up Arthurs Seat. I'd definately stay there again.

“Wonderful Guest House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

My adult daughter and I stayed here in May for 4 nights. This is a beautiful gem of a B&B, with a gracious, friendly hostess and lovely decor. Our twin room looked directly out onto Arthurs Seat which was wonderful to look out on first thing in the morning. We had comfy beds and everything was spotless. The street was quiet and is set in a nice neighborhood, where one felt safe to walk through in the evening. Breakfast was a variety of fresh fruit, toast, cereal and joghurt, as well as coffee and tea. The entire house is decorated with a lot of care and attention and with lots of antiques.

The location is easy to get to by bus or by walking down the Royal Mile. It is only a 10 min. walk from Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament. To Waverly Station, it is about a 30 min. walk up the Royal Mile.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay there and hope to return there soon. I would highly recommend Elderfields Guesthouse to anyone looking for a warm, friendly atmosphere in a cosy and charming B&B..

“Clean, comfortable and spacious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2010

While looking through photographs of our UK trip in 2008 I realised that I had not written a review of this lovely comfortable b&b. and it does deserve praise. We stayed in the front room overlooking the street and it was clean, comfortable and very spacious. The bathroom was also very large. The breakfast was a little different from other b&b's in that there was cold ham and other little unexpected treats. But there was plenty on offer and we enjoyed the change. Our hostess was friendly & welcoming without being intrusive. The location was good - opposite the park and only a short walk to transport. Highly recommended.
