“A pleasant hotel with friendly staff”

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights Thursday - Saturday. Our room was ready when we came to check in about an hour early. The reception staff were very helpful and offered advice and a map of the local area. The room was clean, well maintained and nicely decorated. We had asked for a quiet room as we had seen previous comments regarding noise in some of the rooms. Were were given Chapel Down room. This room was above the court yard and directly above the cigar Boffie which did lead to some very minor noise but not enough to disturb our stay.It does suffer from noisey pipes during the night but again not enough to ruin the stay.
The breakfast was reasonable on both days although not the best we have had from a hotel of this standard. On the first day our table was not cleared down after our cooked breakfast and led us to having to stack the plates on the corner of the table. Not a major problem though.
On the whole this is a good hotel, well situated just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. If you are looking for nearby restaurants we can highly recommend the Beirut (Lebanese) which is 5 minutes walk away or Kasturi( Indian ) about 15 minutes walk. Excellent food at both.

“Best night in Edinburgh”

My partner and I stayed in a suite in the Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh, the room was amazing from the bathroom to the size of the bed. Wow...!

We had dinner in the Bistro, which was lovely. I would recommend it for a meal even if you are not staying in the hotel. The staff are very welcoming.

We also had room service after enjoying and evening in Edinburgh, this was also amazing.

We would definitely go back, the whole hotel has a lovely feel about it.

Room Tip: I would recommend upgrading to a suite, expecially if it is a special occasion.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Had a lovely one night stay and will definitely return. Arriving for dinner, we were given attentive, thoughtful service throughout. The food was lovingly cooked and there is a warm atmosphere in the Bistro - lovely surroundings. We sampled the wine and cocktail menu, before undulging in the Cigar List and smoking them in the plush "Cigar Bothy" in the central courtyard. We had a deluxe room, on the top floor. With massive bath, twin showers, and a huge bed, we were more than comfortable. I will definitely be back.

“excellent”

My husband and I stayed earlier this month and were deighted with the service we received. The staff could not have been more accommodating and having benefitted from a complimentary upgrade (to a fantastic room) and champagne on arrival to help celebrate our recent marriage, we could not have enjoyed our stay more!

“Good central location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stayed for one night in a nice comfortable room. The hotel used to be an old asylum, so it is a mixture of the old and new. Great central location for sight seeing. Breakfast was great and there was a good selection. Service was prompt and friendly.
