My husband and myself were fortunate to find this beautiful restored Arts & Craft property. Linda & Derek are great hosts from the welcome we received to the fantastic choice, quality & presentation at breakfast it was first class. We stayed in the Mackintosh Room, which was extremely comfortable with perfect facilities.

We were given great recommendations for dinner and plenty of helpful information on places of interest & walks to keep us busy during the day. It was a pity the weather stopped us on our last day doing what we had planned.

We will certainly be back and will recommend to anyone thinking of visiting the area.

From the moment you drive into the driveway, you realise this is a special place! The warm welcome you receive from Derek and Linda does not disappoint, as you enter this magnificent house, which is so tastefully appointed. Timber features very well inside, with very relaxing and well appointed rooms and facilities. Breakfast is brilliant, and features the greatest of local produce all prepared and presented so professionally and to suit the guests' wishes. Galashiels is the perfect location from which to explore the magnificent Scottish Borders area, and Linda and Derek are a warehouse of information to guide you around the Scottish Borders attractions and magnificent historic sites. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer, however, I am certain that we will return to the Scottish Borders again soon, and will certainly stay with Derek and Linda at Maplehurst!

I have been in this guest house for 2 nights. At first, when I saw the pics on the website, I thought it was a gorgeous place but as soon as I arrived I could not believe my eyes. The pics are great but honestly, you can catch the right feeling of the house only staying there. The place is amazing and everything seem perfect. Lynda and Derek do not give you simply an excellent standard of service, they give you always more. The way they behave is superb, and they have made my first time in Scotland absolutely memorable. They were part of my good luck so for me this is a magic guest house.
I hope to go there again soon.

We eloped to Galashiels from Virginia. It would have been a lot more stressful if it weren't for Derek and Linda. They went out of their way to make everything perfect for us. Linda made me a hair appointment and after the wedding they even had chocolates and champagne ready upon our return. It gave us the feeling of having family there, but without the actual pain of having family there! It was a real comfort. We recommend highly recommend Maplehurst, and can't wait to go back!
