This hotel has lots of potential for conferences and other functions as the place itself is very quiet due to suburban area and its large car park. Staff are very friendly and don't mind going the extra mile to deliver a good service. They also seem to be able to multi-task as reception staff help out at the bar, kitchen and vice versa. You can see them going up and down the stairs, never minding, just to keep their guests sweet.
I needed my digi-box changed as the TV didn't work in my room and they dealt with the problem within minutes. Sound-proofing and a lick of paint however would make this hotel a very attractive as it would keep the authenticity of the old mill while providing quality sleep even if there was a function on on a Saturday night. Luckily i was accommodated on the second floor of the hotel but i did feel a bit sorry for those staying on the first floor.
The young receptionist was very welcoming at my arrival, explained all the facilities available (wi-fi at public areas, but not in the rooms free of charge, breakfasts and evening meal servings) but do try to ask for a receipt as no guarantee to have the counter open at your check-out. The breakfasts was very nice, full cooked and buffet style so can take as much as you like and the Danish pastries were just amazing.
All in all, the staff are very flexible and seem to have a human touch to everything, no fuss - no frills, it's a bit of a shame that they seem to be a bit let down by the hotel.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until is refurbished
