“some excellent some not so good”

Very disappointed by the cleanliness and general appearance and upkeep of the room. On initial appearance the room design was stunning, although there was a large feature mirror in the room, approx 6ft in height and when the light was turned on it was extremely dusty and a previous resident had wrote "clean me" on the mirror in the dust. This was so disappointing on so many levels, mainly when I spend that amount of money I expect a high standard of hygiene and not to be reminded that someone else was there in the room before you. Also the toilet roll holder was hanging of the wall in the bathroom. I told the receptonist who appeared to disbelieve me, very rude, and did not even apologise, breathtaking. However our experience in the reminder of the hotel facilities and in relation to customer serivce particulalry in the cocktail bar and Berts was positive.

We would use the public facilities again, but will not be staying.

“Plush 5* Hotel”

We stayed in this hotel a while back after the new section of the hotel had just opened (September 2010) to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The quality of the service, rooms and food was excellent. Although not cheap, it was worth the money and the package we went for came with a free meal in the restaurant where the food was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the hotel if you're looking for someone luxurious for a special occasion.

“Beautiful Hotel”

I stayed here for my cousins hen weekend and we all had a truly fantastic time. The Hotel is beautiful inside and out, and staff are extremely helpful and professional particularly the doorman who was straight over to unpack my luggage and arrange for my car to be parked. The rooms are beautifully appointed in a classic style with lovely high ceilings (although I believe they also have modern style rooms). We ate in the Hotel restaurant which was delicious and sampled a few of the award winning cocktails which are not to be missed. Breakfast was amazing and if you get the chance try one of the smoothies, the perfect cure to a late night.

“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed here for my husband's 30th birthday. We had been allocated a 'Junior Suite' by way of an upgrade. It was located in the Victorian wing and when we were shown the room (which was much smaller than we had expected), we were disappointed as it was very dark, quite worn looking and only had two small rectangular shaped windows which gave a view of barbed wire. We asked to be moved to one of the Art Deco rooms as they appeared to look brighter on the photos on the website. This request was dealt with extremely promptly and within minutes the concierge showed us to a truly wonderful, large and bright room. We were so glad that we asked to be moved. The room contained two large king beds and a seating area. The room was exquisitely decorated with a little dressing table with round bulbs hidden in the wardrobe. The bathroom was beautiful with a roll-top bath and lovely products. I loved the cafetiere and coffee that was provided. We used the roof-top hot tub and sauna which were very relaxing before enjoying cocktails in the hotel bar. We ate outside the hotel but the breakfast the following morning was lovely. We got a great room rate as it was booked well in advance. It was a very relaxing stay.
