We have stayed here twice stayed here two years ago first on our first visit to Belfast and stayed here last wednesday nite again. Very spacious rooms with lovely bathroom Huge bath and huge shower.Large comfortable bed got great nites sleep! Lovely friendly girl at reception both times Jenny gave us loads of information on where to go in Belfast. Breakfast was v good plently of choice also had dinner which was good too good atmosphere at the weekend in the bar there. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Belfast and will definately be back.

“Quite good but could be exceptional with a small amount of effort!”

Pros: The staff were mainly friendly and helpful, the room was a good size with a large comfortable bed, large tv, tea & coffee facilities, additional seating area and a generous ensuite bathroom with adequate toiletries supplied. The breakfast at the hotel had reasonable choice with friendly staff to serve at the weekend, less so on a weekday. The whole hotel was clean and tidy and had a feeling of luxury to it. The hotel is well placed near the University surrounded by restaurants and cafes with bus stops and a train station nearby and only a 20 minute walk to the centre of Belfast.

Cons: Although noise from the bar & the club at the hotel is mentioned on the website it was incredibly loud with a pounding bass beat resounding through the room until approximately midnight on the Friday night and 1am on the Saturday night during our weekend visit. The bathroom would have been much improved if it had a power shower rather than just a shower head attached to the bath and in a four star hotel I do not expect cheap paper-thin toilet paper! We were not informed that the hotel locks its doors early on a Sunday and a staff member seemed quite affronted at having to let us back in at 8pm. The heating was also difficult to adjust to temperature.

A few niggles which although didn't ruin our stay certainly didn't enhance it!

Room Tip: If you are unable to use stairs ensure your room is serviced by the lift. Ask not to be placed over...

“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

My Husband and I stayed here for a weekend as we were going to see James Morrison in the Ulster hall. Overall a good hotel at a reasonable price. The room was very large and clean with everything we needed. Our room was quiet as it was not at the front of the hotel as some reviewers have mentioned. Breakfast on the 1st day was lovely, well cooked and everything you needed. My husband had full Irish and I had scrambled eggs on toast and all was good.
The hotel was near bars and restaurants, including Mollys Yard and Beatrice Kennedy restuarant. Walking distance to everywhere which was great.

The only thing that spoiled our stay was:
On arrival we were told that breakfast was served 7 till 10 which was good as we were leaving at 7.45 on the Sunday morning to catch our flight. We came down just after 7 on the Sunday to be told that breakfast was served from 8 on a Sunday!! So we had no breakfast and no offer of anything. My husband asked for yoghurts and some teabags as the room supply was normally only 1 or 2 teabags which they gave us. It was a disappointing end to a good stay, beware if you go home early on a sunday

“Great rooom, nice location by Queens University”

I stayed here for a business trip to Belfast - my first to this city. I was upgraded to a junior suite which was roomy and stylishly decorated and furnished. The hotel is located next to a very busy road junction, so it can get a little noisy at peak times. It was end of term so the streets outside in this student area got a lillte raucous, but nothing too disturbing. Breakfast was good, although service a little slow. The residents' lounge mentioned in the brochure is actually in the dining room which was being used for private functions in the evenings. The food was fairly good. I woud stay here again but bring earplugs next time
