“Handy to the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

Very comfortable and clean with excellent breakfast choices and wonderfully friendly service. You can walk to the city--to the City Hall, the Opera House, and if you want to see a neighborhood with murals, Sandy Row is also nearby and almost on the way to those places. The train station is very close, and trains go to a lot of the outer areas you may want to visit; the noise may bother some folks. There is a single free computer for internet use; I was never unable to use it. We had a hard time finding it using Google directions from the Antrim Coast; it is definitely off the main drags and there are a lot of one way streets. Helpful to have a map beforehand. The way out, which was south toward Dublin, was very easy.

“Recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

Tara Lodge is a great place to stay. It’s in the Botanic area of Belfast and it’s about a 10 minute walk is the botanic garden and Ulster Museum which recently won an award and is worth seeing. All around are good cafes and restaurants.

When we arrived the guy on reception couldn’t have been more helpful and gave us some good ideas of where to go and what to see. Once we got over the fact that our room was next to the hotel carpark, and found out how to work the tv remote, we realised it was a nice room. There was hardly any coming and going in the carpark and hence the room was actually very quiet. The shower was good. Breakfast was excellent, there are several choices including smoked salmon and scrambled egg and pancakes and syrup. The breakfast room was buzzing with lively conversation and the thing we noticed was that everyone looked happy. The staff were attentive, quickly filled up the jugs of orange juice when they got low etc and it was even noticed that the little milk jug on our table was empty and whisked away and brought back full, without us having to ask.

One of the Open Top bus tour companies has feeder minibuses which pick up people from Tara Lodge to where the tours start from. We really enjoyed it. Botanic also has it’s own railway station where we caught a train out to Cultra. From there it’s a short walk to Ulster Folk Park, a brilliant place where it’s easy to while away a day.

“You'll find cheaper accommodation but not much better.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2010

A short walk from the city centre and other places worth visiting, Tara Lodge is conveniently situated for those, like us, who need to fit a lot into a limited amount of time. Rooms are clean, comfortable and well furnished. Staff are friendly and very helpful and will arrange city tours, if required. The breakfast menu is wide and the quality of the meals is excellent.
For lunch or dinner, try am:pm, in Botanic Avenue, or Benedicts Hotel, on Bradbury Place. The latter has a "beat the clock" menu, from 17:30. Tara Lodge is not the cheapest B&B in Belfast, but is certainly worth the money. We found an offer, on their website and did not pay the rate listed in their advertisement. Be aware that the free car park is small and operates on a "first come, first served" basis. Street parking can be found, if necessay.

Had a fantastic 2 night break at this hotel, we cannot fault this hotel at all and this is something of a rarity as we travel alot and there always seems to be something that does not quite match up, but this hotel is perfect nom more no less.

“Absolutely perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

I stayed in the Tara lodge with my daughter for one night and i have to say it is one of the nicest places i have stayed in. The rooms are gorgeous, spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds and well equipped with everything you need for your stay. The breakfast was excellent too with a great variety of food to suit all tastes. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.
It is in a good location too, within walking distance to the bus station and city centre shops. There are also lots of nice bars and restaurants around this area too. Overall i higlhy recommend the Tara Lodge and it will be the only place i am staying in from now on when i am in Belfast.
