I stayed in the Ramada Encore Inverness directly before staying in the Belfast one. Service, cleanliness and the general sense that the place was well-run were all lacking in the Belfast one whereas we really enjoyed the Inverness branch.
We asked on arrival how much it would be to add breakfast on, as the breakfast had been great at Inverness. We were told £5.00 for continental and £9.95 for cooked items as well. Next morning, when we came down for breakfast, it was £5.50 each - only 50p, but not very professional for different staff to quote different amounts. The buffet had fewer options than the Inverness branch, which was a shame, especially as the full breakfast had been included in the rate there. Also it took a few attempts to find crockery that was clean.
Ramada Encore only give 1 pillow per guest and you have to ask if you want more. In Inverness I got my 2nd pillow brought up straight away. In Belfast I was told that they wouldn't be able to bring it up at the moment (!) (about 3pm), they would bring it up when they could. It hadn't arrived by bedtime so my friend had to go down and ask in person, a pillow then arrived about 15 minutes later.
The next day was more of the same. When we got back from our day out, housekeeping had taken away our old towels, but forgotten to replace them. Rest of housekeeping was not thorough in the room. We phoned down to ask for some towels to be brought up. After waiting over an hour, we phoned reception again. Another 40 minutes went by before they actually arrived, with no apology for the delay. I had also tweeted the hotel's Twitter account during the delay to comment about the problem, and never received a reply.
All of the issues encountered were pretty minor to start with, it was the failure of anyone to take ownership and ensure something as simple as providing towels or a pillow happened, or to apologise for an inconsistency or a delay, that was disappointing. Also if chain hotels are going to have twitter accounts for individual branches rather than a central one, I would expect a common social media policy, ie that contact warrants a reply.
I would be unlikely to stay here again.

Dear Kernowkerensa,
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay in Ramada Encore Belfast City Centre. I was disappointed to read of the issues you experienced during your stay as this in no way reflects the normal warmth of welcome, attention to service and genuine hospitality which we offer our guests.
I have spoken with my colleague, the General Manager of Ramada Encore Inverness, to investigate what, if anything, they are providing differently from us during breakfast and it appears the only difference is that we provide toasted soda bread as part of the hot buffet and they do not.
I have passed your comments to my head housekeeper who assures me that her team will be retrained to ensure that guest requests are dealt with immediately. Please accept my apologies for your inconvenience.
I hope these issues will not prevent you from returning to Ramada Encore Belfast City Centre soon and I can show you the welcome for which we are justly renowned.
Thank you again for your comments,
Kind regards
Jonathan Topping
