This campsite is in a beautiful location surrounded by mountains and with a river at the back. If we had known about the noisy, ugly building works next door however, we would not have gone. For a tent for me, my partner and our 7-year old, £25 per night was a high price. We were made to pay the full price up front before arrival. We did see many campers pack up and leave early when the horizontal rain and gale force winds spoiled the holiday. There were muddy patches but that is to be expected when it rains so much. The toilets and showers were ok. The shop was overpriced - £18 for a windbreak and rather than provide freezing facilities for ice packs, they take a 50p deposit for each one and hire them to you at 30p each! Unfortunately North Wales does not seem to have caught up with the foodie revolution of South Wales and some of England. There are a few very good restaurants at the high end of the market but the cheap and middle priced places are dated and serve boring, bland meat, 2 veg and potatoes-type food. There is a shortage of pubs and many are not open at lunch-time. The piggery pottery near the campsite is great for a rainy day - we spent hours painting pots and plates and you can throw a pot too. I would not camp in North Wales again unless a heatwave were guaranteed. I would also go to a different area. Although Llanberis has the Snowdon Mountain Railway and access to the easiest climb up the Mountain, it is a miserable little town with hopeless offerings of food and drink. I would try a different campsite on a different side of the monutain (perhaps Betws-Y-Coed).
