“Very pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

The Cymyran is a pleasant looking modern hotel located in close proximity to RAF Valley. I did not encounter any noise problems with the airfield during my 5 night stay.
The rooms are clean, bright and comfortable with very nice en suites.
Food in the hotel is of a very high standard and staff are very friendly.

Room Tip: If you want a view from your room, ask to stay on the first floor.

“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I have stayed at this hotel twice now and had a pleasant experience both times. My room this time (first floor) was lovely, however the lack of shower tray does cause a bit of a puddle on the bathroom floor! Dinner and breakfast were both good, the food is lovely, with plenty of choice and attentive and polite staff. Proximity to RAF Valley is the reason for choosing this hotel however it is only a 10 minute walk to the beach, which is a lovely way to unwind after a long day of travelling and meetings. My only reason for not awarding 5/5 is the lack of gym/pool which would make it my perfect hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor of main building are well appointed (I had room 3 this time). Family rooms on t...

“the worst birthday meal ever!!”

I could go on for pages about my experiance but I will make it quick. We were seated and not asked for wine or drinks and this was after our starter had been served, the wine glasses on the table did not match, our candle was not lit, my starter was tiny and seafood over cooked, my partners starter was bland and over seasoned. My partner asked for a jug of water which was brought to the table but with no glasses. My main of steak was served without the sauce I have ordered and I would of had to wait nearly ten minutes for it. The rib eye steak was also the most flavour lacking and un matured piece of beef I have ever had. My partners ox cheek was very under seasoned, bland and came with a free massive hair. The service was terrible and the waitress useless and unattentive, and the chef simply isnt one! I would not go there again if my life depended on it and I would urge people to stay away. p.s. its well over priced aswell.

Room Tip: dont go there

“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

Had to find a hotel near to RAF Valley for one night during Dec. The Cymyran is 2 mins from the main gate, which is great for visitors to the RAF base, and aircraft enthusiasts, but probably a bit noisy for those seeking a quiet stay! I trie to book online using the booking link on their website, but it said the hotel was full, I phoned them to discover plenty of vacancies, so don't trust the hotel's website online booking tool. The hotel is in a converted but modern stables and has plenty of parking. The staffwere very welcoming, friendly, and helpful, and my room was bright, warm, clean and tastefully decorated. The bar and restaurant are modern and open plan but without a fire as a focal point. They do, however, have a large screen tv playing music videos in the corner, but it was not too loud, and easily avoided by sitting on the far side of the bar in one of the plentiful comfortable chairs. Dinner was pleasant although perhaps slightly over priced, and the house wine a very drinkable Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. Breakfast was definately a highlight, excellent fresh fruit salad and a fresh orange squeezer with plentiful oranges, great bacon and friendly staff. Those seeking a holiday find the neighbouring air base a bit noisy, and the hotel has a definate business/utility feel, but this aside I would recommend it, and will personally stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back of the main hotel block are likely to be quieter as they face away from the air ba...

“Hit and miss!”

I have stayed at the cymyran a few times on business over the past couple of years and have found that the service can differ from very bad to very good. They appear to have a very high staff turnover, as i have noticed the owners of the hotel (and old couple) are not easy people to get along with. If you are lucky enough to have good, experienced staff on then you will have a great stay as the hotel itself is fantasic- a new build, spacious, clean rooms and lovely dining area/bar. However if you stay while they are short staffed or there is new staff then the service for food and drink can be quite awful, especially during the peak season. The same seems to be true for the quality of the food, which can sometimes be fantasic, and sometimes very poor. I on one occasion was very dissapointed witha fillet steak, which i paid around £25 for, which was overcooked, the chips were blanced and the waitress got my side orders wrong. On other occasions i have has fabulous meals here (recomend the two way duck!).
