“Whinward House, Perfect hosts.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

After a leisurely drive through Wales it was late afternoon and we’d stopped off in Conwy, we’d been touring all day so we decided to stay over rather than drive back home. We used Tourist Information to find our accommodation, the lady there had a confidence about the booking, "I'm not supposed to say too much but you’ll be alright", she’d booked us into Whinward House. We made the short drive to the discrete former coach house and parked in the drive, stepping out of the car we were greeted by Chris, he’d been tending the garden, he guided us into the house where we met his wife Janis, she took us to our room, a pretty standard greeting, but here’s the difference, already we didn’t feel like customers staying at a guesthouse, we felt like guests staying at Janis and Chris’s home, their guesthouse is a home, they are very welcoming and their welcome feel natural…We could describe the location, the room, and the breakfast, which were all fine, we couldn’t try to list all the little things they did to make us comfortable, remember we hadn’t set out to stay overnight and we hadn’t any of the necessaries with us. In the evening after a short walk into town for dinner we returned to the Whinward to find our hosts sitting in the garden around a sparking log fire, again it felt totally comfortable when they invited us to join them and we spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening with them. I don’t suppose catching Janis and Chris sitting around flames and embers can be part of everyone’s experience…but Janis and Chris will make you feel at home, amongst friends and do their best for you.

“Born to run a bed & breakfast!”

We were attracted by the reviews on trip advisor; what was on offer fitted most of our requirements, so we booked. We arrived to the expected warm welcome and the smell of baking bread; shown the facilities and taken to our comfortable room. We had a pleasant walk into Conwy for a very good fish and chip special at The Archway.
However, it was the big round table at breakfast which made us realise that Janis and Chris are the perfect people to run a b&b. A lovely breakfast was the backdrop to conversation - unusual these days, but most welcome. Recommended without hesitation.

“This really is "home from home"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel very welcome. This is a lovely place to stay, and is ideally located for a walk into Conwy or exploring Snowdonia. The owners, Janis & Chris, who are always helpful and obliging, have created a comfortable, homely and relaxed atmosphere. Having guests sit at a single large table for the delicious freshly cooked breakfast really adds to the occasion. There are a large number of pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance for your evening meal. All in all, a quiet, friendly and relaxing place to stay.

“Great base to visit lovely areas”

This is a lovely place to stay, and well located to walk to the beach or Conwy if you dont want to drive. There is a very comfortable, homely atmosphere which Janis & Chris, the owners, provide and work hard to achieve. Great idea to have one large table which guests sit at for breakfast, where there is a good choice of hot, freshly cooked food, cereals, and yoghurts. Would recommend Whinward House as a great base to visit the scenic North Wales and Snowdonia Park areas

“Most certainly 10 out of 10!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2011

Without a doubt one of the best we have ever stayed at. Chris and Janis, the proprietors provide a fantastic level of accommodation that cannot be faulted. The house is spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished throughout, and is situated in the ideal spot to explore Conwy and the surrounding countryside and coastline.
One of the high points is the breakfast, which is to die for! To sum up - excellent and certainly one which we would gladly go back to.

Room Tip: As far as we are aware, all the rooms are first class
