“Most certainly 10 out of 10!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2011

Without a doubt one of the best we have ever stayed at. Chris and Janis, the proprietors provide a fantastic level of accommodation that cannot be faulted. The house is spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished throughout, and is situated in the ideal spot to explore Conwy and the surrounding countryside and coastline.
One of the high points is the breakfast, which is to die for! To sum up - excellent and certainly one which we would gladly go back to.

Room Tip: As far as we are aware, all the rooms are first class

“unrecognisable from the other reviews”

Do not stay here unless you like clutter everywhere. Attention to detail is poor eg the pencil in the bedside table was so blunt it could not be used & the relevant pages had been torn out of the guidebook in the bedroom. Various gadgets no longer worked as worn out batteries had not been replaced. The proprietors decided that we would like no heating & a summer duvet even though it was unseasonably cold. There was no heating in the bathroom. It would have been nice to have been given a choice.

The recommended pub was also poor. When we told Janice what we thought she said that the owners had become lazy & that it was very hit & miss - if so, why recommend it?

The breakfast Corn Flakes & Shreddies were almost empty, tasted rather stale and had large quantities of crumbs in the bottom of the packets. There was no sign of the advertised locally made preserves or home made bread.

The property was only just clean enough.

The hosts were friendly & welcoming but that did not make up for the deficiences.

We were shocked and disappointed to recieve this report, whilst it is impossible to please everyone all the time, we strive to represent the high grading we've earned and this has been reflected by over 95% of guests over 6 years.

Everyone has opinions, but to put them in such a manner does not reflect the high level of attention to detail we pay guests. We responded to the request for heating to be turned on (in June) and the duvet was changed immediately. There are always extra blankets or bedding options available and the bathroom is heated with adjustable thermostates on all radiators.
We do not provide gadgets for guests use, only remote controls for tv/dvd's which are all checked regularly.

We provide a list of places to eat depending on peoples tastes and likes and do not recommend any in particular, but do have guests feedback on all to comment on.

Hot home made bread is made daily and delivered at breakfast alongside the home made jams and honey to accompany a cooked breakfast, cooked to order of local produce.

We encourage Trip Advisor users to read the 25 excellent reports posted and to take this as one persons opinion that differs from the vast majority.

We had a wonderful stay in Whinward House. Our host Chris and Janis made us feel at home. Morning breakfast was yummy with sausages , bacon and eggs done to our liking. We visited the best pubs and eating places .... thanks to our host again. The rooms were big and kept very clean. We would recommend this place to all. Will be back next year.

“One of the best we stayed in!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

We were only there for one night but would have been very happy to stay on if possible. Our hosts Chris and Janis were very welcoming and the room was spacious and comfortable. The surrounding area was very quiet and we were able to easily walk to a local pub recommended by Chris and Janis for our evening meal. Breakfast was lovely with Janis dressing in traditional Welsh costume to serve our meal. A very relaxed and enjoyable stay. Helen and Wayne, South Australia

“Warm and very friendly welcome.”

We found out about Chris and Janis at Whinward House from the excellent tourist information office in Conwy, they told us we would be welcomed into a lovely family home in a quiet location just 5 minutes easy drive from the town centre.
The reality exceeded their advice and within seconds of our arrival we were made to feel completely at home.
We were given a choice of rooms which were equally spotless and inviting with no traffic noise at all.
Chris and Janis are very friendly and easy to talk to so we soon found that there are several lovely walks that can be taken from the house without needing the car.
It's a very enjoyable 10 minute walk along the banks of the River Conwy back into town and if you don't want that there is a choice of good places to eat and drink even closer to the B&B. Also you can be up in the rolling hills above the estuary in just 15 minutes enjoying the wonderful views.
If you just want to relax for the evening there are TV's with built-in DVD players in both rooms and Chris and Janis have a huge selection of films and music DVD's which they are happy for you to borrow.
Breakfast is a chatty and filling experience with every taste catered for (try the Scrambled Egg and Smoked Salmon, yum yum).
We will be returning for a longer stay in future so we can fit in the things we didn't get time for and once again enjoy the marvelous hopitality so freely offered.

Many thanks for taking the time to post such a lovely review of our B&B. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us as much as we enjoyed your company. It is the best think about B&B we meet so many nice people and are sad to see them go. I hope you'll come back to us again sometime. Regards Janis and Chris
