“Relaxing getaway”

I treated my husband and myself to an evening and overnight stay as a christmas present bought from Travelzoo. We had booked a premium room and were not disappointed. The hotel is warm and welcoming, with a tartan decor. Our room was spacious, well decorated and very warm, with a view of the castle. We had a bottle of champagne on arrival and also two complimentary bottles of water and tea and coffee facilities. There was a bose radio and a decent sized tv. Bathroom was clean though we did ask for more toiletries which were brought up straight away.

Food was lovely, my starter was a twice baked souffle and my husband had the belly pork which was very yummy. Main course we both had the lamb served with dauphinoise potatoes and finally the pannecotte and cheese board.

After a very pleasnt nights sleep, breakfast was very nice and had a broad variety of choice from traditional Welsh to fresh kippers. Staff were polite and courtious throughout our stay. Conwy is a quiet village but has great access to the Snowdonia national park and is not far from Llandudno which has good shopping and a lovely promenade. We spent an hour or so having a coffee in the St George Hotel in Llandudno taking in the fantastic views, the weather unfortunatley let us down but did not not spoil a lovely day.
The Castle is set on the main street but a little difficult to get to due to one way system in town but its a small town so got there eventually.

Room Tip: Our room at the back of the hotel had a view of the castle,

Thank you for writing.
We're all very pleased you enjoyed your stay and your food. It's a pity your weather wasn't too good, but I suppose it is February and we do generally get more than our fair share of sunshine. You'll have to come again!!

“Quaint, good value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Stayed one night in Jan 2012 and sampled the bar (cosy), breakfast (very nice) and had a room upgrade which was worth it. The room was quiet and clean, bathroom pleasant and functional. The staff were helpful and friendly and I'll be back there again the next time I am in Conwy.

Room Tip: Rooms that are not over the bar are quieter and the upgrade to a premier/superior room was worth the...

“Fantastic stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

My sister and I have just returned from an overnight stay in the Castle Hotel. We booked a deal with Travelzoo and were allocated a twin room at the back of the hotel. The room was spacious, quiet, warm and welcoming. The staff at the hotel are lovely, very polite and helpful. The food we ate was terrific. Our starters were potato and herb pancake served with smoked haddock and a poached egg and a smooth pate with lovely local bread. The mains were braised welsh beef with horseradish/parsley mash and a cod fillet served with a small fishcake. We opted to share desserts of a pannecotte and a cheese and biscuits. The whole meal was well presented and tasted great. The meal was concluded in the lounge area with coffee and fudge. I would highly recommend this hotel as breakfast the next morning was also very good. The hotel has two car parks and we had no problem in finding a space. Conwy does not have much to offer for the shopper so we travelled to Llandudno ( 5 miles away) where there are more shops and a long flat promenade.

“Conwy's hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

What a fantastic stay! We stayed here for two nights on a Travelzoo deal. From the moment we stepped into this hotel we felt welcomed and at home! Being near Christmas, it was absolutely magical, with the whole hotel beautifully decorated. The hotel definitely has a ‘boutique’ feel to it with tastefully chosen antique furniture all around. Our room was a premium room (208) on the first floor and it was lovely! The Bose sound system in the room was fantastic and the en suite was bright and clean. The room faced the high street which was slightly noisy first thing Tuesday morning (recycling day we think!) but unless you wanted to spend all morning in bed it wasn’t a problem. We had drinks the first evening before dinner and took them into the lounge area. This was lovely and peaceful with large comfortable sofas and board games if you fancied them! The smoking area outside was great with outdoor heaters and wicker chairs and from here you could see the castle. The meal on both nights was out of this world. We were on the set menu but this changed each night. The food was tasty and plentiful and on both evenings we took the coffee into the lounge to chill out. The service, as well as the food, was impeccable. Breakfast was also stunning and we have the mention the amazing home made muesli (in yoghurt and packed with fresh fruit) which was sublime! The Welsh breakfast was wonderful and really set us up for the day!
Whilst staying here, you must go and see the Castle itself. Great to look around and amazing views from the top. (Also a wonderful place for your partner to ask you to marry him!! ) A walk around the small town is nice and there are lots of small shops selling everything and anything!
Overall, a brilliant stay and I hope we will one day return. The staff were brilliant (particularly Danielle who was always smiling and had boundless energy!) and the night porter was cheery and helpful. Thank you to all at the Castle!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel facing the castle if you are a light sleeper!

Thank for your great review. Very entertaining and informative! You really do seem to have made the most of your time with us and what a lovely reward for climbing all those steps up to the top of the castle - a marriage proposal!!
I've passed on your kind comments to Daniella, who is a star and has just received a promotion recognising her potential!
Hopefully we'll see you on your honeymoon - or at the very least, your anniversary!! Once again thanks very much for writing.

“First Class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

Fantastic service, food and atmosphere. We now frequent here instead of The Mulberry, as you get what you pay for. We have a holiday home locally and have had nothing but good food and good service on each and every visit.

Would recommend to anyone, keep up the good work guys

Thanks a lot for your review. As you know, we enjoy great business from our local area, either from people like yourself with a holiday home near by, from our fabulous loyal North Walians and the many overseas and UK visitors to Conwy.
We like to think we're a local hostelry first and 4 Star hotel second - if that makes sense?! We live or die by repeat visits from customers who have a good experience each time they use us. See you soon - the weather is improving!!
