This pub is located in one of the most beautiful settings in the country. We ordered our meals and all arrived but 2, we waited and eventually asked the waitress where the other meals were. She went off to find out where they were. The manager then came over very aggressively and said we had all the meals we had ordered and in front of us read them out and screwed them up in front of us saying we have all the meals we ordered and there were not anymore! then the waitress arrived back with the missing meals and explained they had lost the tickets and were sorry. The manager just said "now you are all sorted then" and walked off with out a word of sorry. The food was so so

We had a meal here on the 17th August, its a Pub in a lovely location and we were really looking forward to it.

Ordered three Fish and Chip Meals for the family. The Fish was full of bones, sticking in our children's throats! The Kids could not eat theirs.
When i complained im afraid I was treated with contempt - the waitress just smiled and when i complained at the Bar it was basically a "tough luck!" attitude.
Would not recommend....

A group of us decided to go for a day trip at Avebury and descended on the Red Lion for some food in the evening (around 6pm). When making the order - we were told that they were out of more than half the items on the menu (seeing that it is a Sunday, in summer, which is obviously peak season - you would think that they would've stocked up), including eggs and pineapple and would have to substitute the gammon & eggs with pineapple chutney instead. When the food arrived, the steak was overdone (it felt like a piece of old grey leather, not to mention that I asked for medium rare), the mushroom was burnt, there was lack of chips and the portion of salad on the burger was abysmal! If you are thinking of having a meal there, do think twice and just stick to the drinks.

We recently went here for Sunday lunch... what a disappointment. Two slices of slimy pork belly (not roast pork as advertised) which your teeth bounced off, floury gravy, soggy yorkshire pud (?) and rock hard vegetables. No apple sauce 'not our fault, it hasn't been delivered'. The beer was well kept and the rushed off their feet staff tried their best... the decor is extremely tired and the whole place is generally grubby. It's obvious that the pub relies on non-returning Avebury Stones tourists, the standard is generally awful.
