“Business trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Tend to use Jurys for business trips as it is good value, rooms good size and clean.

What lets them down is the service in the bar and the breakfast.

Bar is busy and very slow !!!

Breakfast is lacking in ambiance and food quality is not great.

If they could address these issues it would be a great hotel in the middle of busy Birmingham

“Worst night's sleep and a battle at breakfast”

I booked this as it was so close to the ICC - conference centre. That's probably the best bit about it. The room was plain and spacious but that didn't make up for the appalling noise levels. This hotel is single glazed and has very poor insulation. This meant I felt like I was sleeping on the streets during Mardi Gras (who were just drinkers outside on a Tuesday night). I was also unfortunate enough to be near the lift shaft - the noise of this was the equivalent of a train leaving the station every other minute!
After the awful sleep I encountered the madness of breakfast. What a lazy service model. It was like a high school canteen. No offer of a table - just a free for all. No laid tables - just walk around and around to find everything (by which time your food and drink is cold). An awful atmosphere of panicked and rushed "guests"!
I mentioned it at check out and was given a puzzled look, but nothing else. This was just a 1 night business trip. Had it been longer and for leisure, I'd have checked out and gone elsewhere.
Give me a Premier Inn any day....

Room Tip: If you really want to stay get as high up the tower as possible and avoid any rooms near the lifts...

“Great location, simple but what you expect.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We chose to stay here as it was a good central location with easy access to shopping, restaurants and NIA. We were on the 6th floor and needed an adjoining room which was not the best but it was only for a night. The general hotel was good and the food was fine. It was a Saturday night and the noise from the bar/clubs was very loud and then there was a car horn competition about 2.30am which lasted half an hour!! Our friends were on the 14th floor and heard nothing of the noise we had but could hear the lifts in the night.
It is a typical travel inn, travelodge type hotel but is in a great location so when booking just ask to be on a higher floor of the hotel and away from the lifts and I would imagine you would have a great nights sleep ;-)

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor and away from the lifts.

“Clean and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We stayed here as it was within walking distance of the NIA, and had a good choice of restaurants nearby. We were on the 10th floor and the room was clean, modern and comfortable. We were at the opposite end of the corridor to the lifts and could hear them in the distance. If your room was near the lifts I imagine they could get quite annoying. Breakfast was as expected - obviously not as good as having everything cooked freshly for you but quite acceptable. We used the hotel car park - no problems there. One of the reasons I chose this hotel, apart from its proximity to the NIA was that it was really easy to get to from the M5. I have an aversion to driving in strange cities and this was really easy!

“very well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

we had a really good stay at this hotel, the location is fantastic, brindley place is really good but quite expensive it is a real buzzy place with lots of bars and resturants. We booked a double room but the reception staff put us in a superior room because it was available.
i had read a review saying the lift was noisy and i have to say we were a long way away but it could be heard during the night, quite surprising for a hotel of this quality.my only real grumble was the parking very expensive for a two night stay i know not owned by the hotel but surely some discount should be given for people staying there.

Room Tip: superior rooms have loads of room and ask to be as far from lift as possible.
