We had a very pleasant stay at the Shakespeare whilst attending an evening show at the Royal Shakespeare theatre. We picked this hotel because it is only 5 minutes walk to the theatre.
Check-in was effortless. We parked in the car park to the rear of the hotel and the reception desk is only a few paces inside. We were quickly checked into room 125 ('Rosalind'), which is a decent sized room full of history and character, but not at the expense of the creature comforts.
The bed was soft and comfortable, with good temperature control for the room. Our bathroom was spacious enough, but the water pressure on the shower was a little low.
The Quill bar in the hotel was still open after the evening performance, and we found the staff friendly and helpful.
We didn't eat in the hotel, so cannot comment on this aspect of the service, but in all other regards it was excellent for our purposes. The proof of the pudding is that I have just cancelled an upcoming booking for another hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon and switched it back to the Shakespeare.
