We have just returned from an excellent weekend stay at The Stratford and couldnt fault it, the room (307, second floor) was modern and comfortable, it had everything we needed and a nice view looking out to the path infront of the entrance.
We were particularly impressed as we travelled by train and although I knew that the hotel was close I wasn't expecting it to be just a few minutes walk away so this was a great plus point for us. The town centre is a short walk away and there is plenty to see and do. The staff were always friendly and we enjoyed the lovely breakfast which came with the booking and a couple of drinks in the hotel bar during the evenings so all in all we had a wonderful weekend even though it snowed on the second day we were still able to easily walk into the town and the hotel looked very pretty in the snow :) we will definitely be back hopefully in the summer to enjoy the outdoor seating area.

I recently spent a Friday evening at this hotel. It is in a good location and is in walking distance to the theatre and town centre. Rooms are fairly standard. Charge of 5 pound for outside parking which I thought was a bit rich. Service was rather sterile. Clientele seems to be mainly older couples visiting for the weekend on a beer drinking competition. Seriously, having to share a dining room with men who were trying to outdo each other as to who had drank the most pints and at what time they were going to have their first pint tomorrow ruined our evening and breakfast. Might be ideal for a bucks weekend?

One night stay with my wife, it was not enough! The room was excellent and vry clean also, the staff were excellent also, we could not ask for more

Impressive hotel and facilities. Location is excellent. staff are friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back in the summer.
