I had previously stayed at this Travelodge just days after it first opening and had found it very enjoyable. So, when there was a £9 a night sale earlier this year, I booked 3 nights for November. Arriving at the hotel, check in was quick and I was allocated a third floor room. I did ask the receptionist to make sure it wasn't a room facing the main road at the front and she did that willingly.
As soon as I entered the room I could hear running water. Looking in the bathroom, I found that there was a continual flow of water from the toilet tank into the toilet bowl. I flushed it to see if the fault would then be rectified but it wasn't. I tried to put it out of mind but after a few minutes, I realised this noise was going to be disturbing me in the night so I went down to reception to ask for another room. This was sorted quickly and without fuss.
The alternative room was accepable but the walls, like others I'd seen in the other room and public areas, were marked and could do with a repaint. In the bathroom, some of the fittings were in a poor state of repair but, nevertheless, worked. Noise was not a problem for me as the room faced the car park at the rear and was on the top floor.
One final point about the state of the hotel: one of the lifts was out of order. I've no idea why this was but the fault lift car was in evidence with doors partly open and bent with tape stuck over it.
I slept well and, at £9 a night, I cannot complain about the value. I did not eat at the hotel but instead decided to go to Tesco's over the road for a very satisfactory breakfast.
