“Only go if you pay rock bottom prices!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

This hotel is extremely basic! There was dirt on the floor on every landing, one of the lifts was out of order, my room was just a bed nothing else but I only paid £12 for one night which was a bargain and it's in a great location a short walk from the town centre. Put it this way, if you pay £19 or under book it but if it's full price then their are much better hotels in town, the holiday inn Stratford for example is lovely. So all I can say if you get a good deal book it otherwise don't bother!

“Brilliant, clean, comfortable... Happy to go back and already planning a trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

I rated this 5 because of the price (£23 for both of us) and the staff. It took us just 7 minutes to walk into the centre of the town, the room (number 219) was large, clean, warm, quiet and comfortable. The reception was clean, tidy and welcoming. Stayed there for Christmas Eve.

The only thing that I thought it lacked was a sofa in the room, but the bed was comfortable enough to sit on.

Did not eat so cannot comment of that.

I really don't know why this place has had bad reviews - it's a Travelodge and you get what you pay for - simples...

“TRAVELODGE STRATFORD-UPON-AVON”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Stayed here for 3 nights last week, typical travelodge basic room but was spotlessly clean, and a bargain at £19.00 per night. staff were friendly. didn`t eat here so can`t comment on food. what we liked was the location, bus stop right outside the door to go into the lovely town of stratford. Also a Tesco opposite the hotel for any forgotten toiletries. Would recommend and will definitely return at a later date.

“Poor state of repair”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

I had previously stayed at this Travelodge just days after it first opening and had found it very enjoyable. So, when there was a £9 a night sale earlier this year, I booked 3 nights for November. Arriving at the hotel, check in was quick and I was allocated a third floor room. I did ask the receptionist to make sure it wasn't a room facing the main road at the front and she did that willingly.
As soon as I entered the room I could hear running water. Looking in the bathroom, I found that there was a continual flow of water from the toilet tank into the toilet bowl. I flushed it to see if the fault would then be rectified but it wasn't. I tried to put it out of mind but after a few minutes, I realised this noise was going to be disturbing me in the night so I went down to reception to ask for another room. This was sorted quickly and without fuss.
The alternative room was accepable but the walls, like others I'd seen in the other room and public areas, were marked and could do with a repaint. In the bathroom, some of the fittings were in a poor state of repair but, nevertheless, worked. Noise was not a problem for me as the room faced the car park at the rear and was on the top floor.
One final point about the state of the hotel: one of the lifts was out of order. I've no idea why this was but the fault lift car was in evidence with doors partly open and bent with tape stuck over it.
I slept well and, at £9 a night, I cannot complain about the value. I did not eat at the hotel but instead decided to go to Tesco's over the road for a very satisfactory breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing ther car park

“Could be so much better!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

I agree with the previous reviewer. We stayed overnight at the weekend and found this place rather bland, dirty and the interior being similar to a student-style/hostel accomodation. We had paid for an early check in and the bedding (for the additional mattress and the sofa which converted into another bed) arrived after we had checked in and was just left for us to make up! The walls were stained and the toilet rolls were cheap. The cups next to the kettle needed a good wash. There was no remote for the TV although the heater in our room did work. We had room facing the car-park so it was less noisy and so we did manage a good night sleep. Next day breakfast was buffet style and was ok with a range of hot and cold.
On the positive side, the location is ideal as it is opposite a big retail park with high street shops and it is ten minute walk away from the centre of the town. Sadly this hotel is let down by its lack of cleanliness.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing car park
