“Beautiful Hotel with Good Food and First Class Service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

On arrival we where greeted and sat in the cocktail bar, The décor was lovely although it was quite dark. The Hostess seemed dis interested in our arrival but the bar man was lovely. Are order was taken and soon after we where invited through to the restaurant, it would have been nice to have sat in the bar for a few moments longer as we where relaxed and enjoying our drinks.

The food was very good but I must state the service was a cut above the rest, everyone was so attentive and I would like to thank the young Irish waiter who especially stood out as he looked after us wonderfully and my husband was extremely impressed with his cheese knowledge, it was a real education. I would like to thank Jesmond Dene House for a wonderful evening and keep up the good work.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back,

“A fabulous hotel and restaurant”

My husband surprised me with a stay at the Jesmond Dene House for my birthday at the beginning of February. We stayed in the hotel for one night (Saturday) in room 4 on the first floor. We arrived just before lunch and although check in isn't until 3pm we were able to check in and our room was ready for us. The entire hotel has a very luxury feel, set in a fantastic location with lovely views over Jesmond dene. Our room was beautiful with a super king sized bed, huge bay window overlooking the dene, and a lovely seating area. The bathroom was also huge, modern with a slight period feel, with a large walk in glass shower, and very deep bath. There was fresh fruit and bottles of water in the room which was a nice touch.

We ate in the restaurant for dinner which was just fabulous, each course was perfect and made even better by the great service. My husband had advised the hotel it was my birthday when making the reservation and after dinner a plate with happy birthday written in chocolate arrived with a selection of sweets, which were delicious and a very nice touch. After dinner we enjoyed the rest of our wine in the lounge in front of the fire which was very enjoyable.

Breakfast was very nice overlooking the garden (covered in snow) with a wide choice of both continental and english breakfast items. The eggs benedict was very nice and my husband said his full english was delicious.

I would recommend Jesmond Dene House to anyone, a fabulous hotel in a great location with great staff and delicious food.

Room Tip: Room 4 is a delux room with a great view over the dene.

“A Great Place For Sunday Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

My wife and I visited Jesmond Dene House for sunday lunch, to celebrate my Mothers 80th Birthday, with my Brother and Partner. Upon arrival we were shown to the bar for pre-dinner drinks. The Bar is a lovely, low-lit, comforteable room with, sofas and tables and chairs nicely spaced, and a cosy fireplace which was constantly attended to for our enjoyment. From the moment we arrived the attention and service we recieved was second to none. The dining experience is equally as good, with fine service, and fine food all rolled into one. We chose the salmon starter, and my brother had the mushroom ravioli, which we both agreed was excellent. We had the roast beef with the usual trimmings and vegetables (served separately ), and a Confit of Duck which was wonderful. The wine list was extensive, with many fine wines on offer, and we chose the red Merlot and a house Sauvignon Blanc, which everyone enjoyed. This was followed by Pecan Tarts, which were rich in chocolate on a shortbread style base, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We rounded the afternoon off with coffee and Tea in the Bar. Everyone enjoyed the experience, and are already looking forward to our next visit.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Stayed saturday night for a friend's birthday, on a deal that included a junior suite and a tasting menu at dinner. The hotel is fantastic - there's a new building containing the suites and the old main building houses the other bedrooms and public spaces. Jesmond Dene is an excellent location for walks/runs/cycling and its easy to get into the centre of Newcastle. Dinner was impressive, just the right mix of informality and professionalism and some excellent dishes, especially the scallops and dover sole. A la carte breakfast was good too. It reminded us of Gleneagles (without the golfers!) and Petrus in London without the upselling of wine! If you need a hotel in Newcastle I can't recommend it enough.

“A really special place to stay in a great city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I used to live in Newcastle, and watched with interest as a disused gothic building was turned into a new hotel; the Jesmond Dene Hotel. I was delighted to have the opportunity to return to the city, and visit some of my old haunts, and discover some new ones. Jesmond is often cited as 'the place to stay' when in town but most of the hotels are on the noisy Osborne Road stretch. Not so the Jesmond Dene Hotel... sited as it is on the edge a wooded park - a great place for a morning run, or a Sunday morning stroll to an outdoor Art Market.

Our room was everything you would expect of a boutique hotel; modern and stylish. My partner especially liked the complimentary mini bottle of fresh milk in the minibar fridge - a welcome alternative to those silly UHT capsules that you fight to open, and you don't really want in your tea once they are.

My highlight was sitting in the 'billiard room' lounge bar for pre-dinner drinks on our first night. It was spacious, and comfortable, Two ladies sitting nearby were struggling to finish their afternoon tea, so it was boxed up to take away. We were having olives and salted nuts with an early aperitif while admiring a log fire across the room.

The staff were attentive without being intrusive. My partner and I were admiring the sculptures diplayed in the entrance hall of the hotel and the receptionist whisked out a coffee table book of the artist for our perusal in our room.Later they proved a very useful source of information regarding directions, parking and opening hours of local visitor attractions.

We had a great time and would definitely stay here again next time we visited Newcastle.. it can't come soon enough!
