I stayed at the White Horse for one night on a Saturday. I booked it mainly for the price and the location so to be honest I didn't have great expectations. What I got for my £51 though was an excellent room and a very good night's sleep (particularly impressive given the town centre location). I didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on that, but if it is as good as the rooms you won't be disappointed.

Rooms are simple but cosy and comfortable. Main part of the hotel has lots of old pub / coaching inn character and charm. Nestled nicely in the centre of Dorking high street.

I have stayed at this hotel for many years and must admit it has improved since being taken over by Mercure.
Double glazing of front rooms needs to be improved

The Whitehorse has plenty of potential. I stayed in the older more charming part. While quaint, the peeling paint and wallpaper detracted from the ambiance. The carpet was worn in the hallways and room. The window frames in my room were furry with black mold.
The service was personable and the staff helpful and friendly.
The Breakfest buffet was fair and the haddock with poached eggs was very tasty.

minus points - one of the curtains was hanging off the rail; the bathroom door didn;t close
plus - excellent breakfast and (on 2nd morning) the best breakfast waitress ever. don;t know her name but you should pay her more!!
