“Fantastic family break!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed here with my mum, dad, 2 younger sisters and our little westie dog last weekend (3rd-5th Feb 2012). We had such a brilliant time and would defo recommend this pub/inn to anyone wanting to stay in or around Long Melford! Reason for visiting was that it was my nan's birthday; she lives about 20mins away from Long Melford suggested we stay here and we were so pleasently surprised!! Although the town itself is quiet with nothing much to do, this pub was lively, very beautful and had an excellent atmosphere. We stayed for 2 nights in the big family room (number 6) and loved the space and the views of the high street out the front window. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and all meals we had there were extremely satisfying, especially the breakfasts! We were lucky enough to be there while the snow started coming down thick and fast, and this only added to the beauty. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the George & Dragon and will no doubt be returning again!

Room Tip: Family room was perfect for 4-6 people + a dog!

My partner and i stayed here for two nights over Christmas. We arrived on Christmas eve in time for some lunch and I had the steak and kidney pie which was very nice indeed. The room we stayed in was no14 which was next door and looked to be Georgian but inside you could see old beams of an older house. The room was clean with loads of towels and a nice bathroom. There was also a nice flat screen televison.Christmas dinner was fabulous and we couldn't have eaten any more. The staff were wonderful and friendly and would do anything for you. After the meal we were asked to stay for a drink with the staff which was a nice end to a lovely stay.

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

This place is definitely one to visit if you are looking for a place to stay in Long Melford. The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. Stayed 3 nights in room 10, it was simply lovely and had everything you could possibly need. It was quiet, comfortable and very clean. The breakfasts were tasty and hot. The place also served main meals, although these weren't included in the package, they were delicious and worth paying extra for. I really couldn't recommend this place more, except to say that I am going back to stay there over the Christmas period and I think that speaks for itself.

“Long Melford - good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

Stayed one night in Room 7. Quiet, clean and comfortable, lovely fluffly towels and crisp white sheets. Sufficient room; bathroom was big, shower nice and powerful, although it appeared that someone had nicked the bath! Would have been useful to have a mirror in the bedroom - made hair drying an interesting experience - hairstyle had to be by guesswork and memory!
I read another review saying room 7 smelt damp - we did not find that at all - it was cosy and warm, with a useful front door of your own. Breakfast was splendid and lots of it!

“Lovely rooms!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Stayed here to explore the area. Well situated for this. Our room was in the annexe- a Georgian house next door. Well decorated and furnished. We expected some street noise but never heard a thing. They must be a quet refined lot in Long Melford. Breakfasts were excellent and very hot, main meals were also good, although starters and desserts were dull and expensive.
Staff were friendly and worked very hard. Would return.

Room Tip: Go for the annexe- rooms 14 and 15. Right next to the main building but away from any possible pub n...
