“Fourth Time Unlucky! Has a lot of Issues which seem to be well known by the staff!”
We have stayed at this Premier Inn 3 more times since I last reviewed it and things have gradually gone downhill on each visit. On our second visit the bed was so hard and lumpy that i had sore hips the following morning and the push button loo flush needed a superhero to push it in. We stayed again on the weekend of the 16th Dec for two nights, the bed was a bit better ( probably because i was lying on a memory foam topper I had bought with me!). The sinks in these rooms are inside the sleeping space and this one stank of bad eggs when used. We put the plug in and sprayed some deodorant to mask the smell. Our most recent stay was 28/1/2012 and was a disaster!
The first room seemed OK until someone in a neigbouring room flushed their loo, which created a sound like a ships horn both times it happened. I went to reception to get a change of room, this time the room was next door to the main lift shaft and it was very audible, so we did not bother to move in to that one! The next room seemed to be fine, but the loo flush wasn`t just stiff, it was broken. I phoned for assistance and a member of staff came to open the access door on the corridor to find out what was wrong; he needed the flash light app from my phone to see in there ( why he had no torch I don`t know ) and managed to fix the problem. After returning back from an evening out we started to prepare for a sleep to be greated by the dreaded sink stench again - this one was so bad we only had 2 options, to put chemicals down there or move to room number 4. Being late at night ans having a child in tow meant we opted for the chemical fix - but I had to go to reception, collect spray and bleach tablets and DO IT MYSELF! What the hell? To add to the fun the bed was again solid, next door came in at 1am and showered/banged aroung until 2am, the air con unit was off but gurgled into the small hours and then next door rose at 6.30am, meaning I had a terrible nights sleep.
Needles to say, I took them up on their money back guaranteee and left. Wil I go back for a fifth time? I suspect not for some time yet.
Aparently this hotel was not designed by Premier Inns people, they bought it from a developer, which is why it is quirky in its layout and temperamental with its plumbing I guess. They need to put softer mattresses on thier beds though and clean the sinks thoroughly, including the overflow pipes and change the toilets to lever flushes instead of push button.
Room Tip: Stay somewhere else? Avoid lift shafts. But be warned, there is a plumbing issue in this place and t...
