“Excellent Hotel for value and location.”

My wife and I (a couple in our early 50's) have just stayed in the hotel, for three nights, (Feb 2nd to Feb 10th 2012), and found it to be excellent value for money. The key advantage of staying in this hotel, is it's location------Approximately three to five minutes from Paddington Rail Station, which has an express shuttle rail service from Heathrow Airport. Also, it is a three minute walk to "Lancaster Gate" underground station, which is on the "Centre Line"--(Red on the tube map), and this gives one, direct access to the general underground system/Rail system in the centre of London, and indeed greater London. An additional location factor is that it is a five minute walk to Hyde Park.
The hotel itself is suitable for all age groups, and has a very spacous foyer and reception area, which is staffed by very courteous and helpful staff, both male and female. Over the course of our short stay we became friendly with "Sergio" and "Sala", who worked in reception, and found them both to be very pleasant and helpful towards us.
Nothing was to much trouble for them.
The room we stayed in (66), which was on the fourth floor, was perfectly adequate for our needs, although the toilet and shower area was a little on the small side, however, we managed without any difficulty. The room was well decorated and had a very comfortable double bed. The room was very clean, and fresh towels were provided each day.

Breakfast was a continental, which was perfectly adequate and included scrambled eggs, sausages, beans, cereal, fruit, fruit juice and lots of fresh toast along with tea and coffee. Again, the staff in the breakfast room area, were very courteous and helpful.

We will be back to this hotel again without doubt in the near future.

Room Tip: We were on the fourth floor, and found it to be very quiet.

We were backpackers. Direct train from the airport which dropped us off at Paddington, a couple of blocks away. The rooms were small but expected. My husband found the bathroom a bit of a challenge but we're used to our mega supersized Canadian living we didn't feel right picking on something the management probably couldn't do much about. The only problem was the heat which became rather untolerable some nights. We opened the window briefly but we were on the ground floor and there was a huge insect crawling about right outside that we were forced to keep it closed all day and night. Other than that we didn't spend too much time in our rooms. For our purposes it was more than adequate.

Room Tip: Choose higher floors if possible. Better security and not so many insects out of your window that ca...

“neither good nor bad”

1st class for location. 2mins from Paddington station, resturants are in walking distance all you need. HOTEL is ok but the room I was in was the same standard as B&B small very tight space to get to the bathroom, I kept the window open by putting the toilet roll there as it was a sash window. Breakfast was basic, no bacon but it was ok if you are not expecting too much. Staff are good.

Room Tip: do not have room 11

As we are located in listed building dating back to the 1830s a few of our rooms are small, but adequate for purpose. We do have alternative rooms, including one and two bedroom suites, with lounge and kitchen areas and unsuited bathrooms, please enquire about this availability on your next visit. Many hotels charge for breakfast, our buffet breakfast including cold and hot items is complimentary to our guests.

“good solution, great price”

At Westpoint you have to very good points: the location, just across Hyde Park and 30 mins walking from center's shopping streets, and the personnel.
During our stay we got a very good support from the receptionists (Sergio, you're the man, thanks again!), solving some problems and helping us to plan better the holyday. The rooms are small and not recently refurbished, but this is acceptable to sleep/rest during the night. the cost is similar to other local hotels, but the quality level is definitely higher.

Room Tip: rooms in the basament are too close to kitchens and breakfast hall, avoid them!

Myself and my fiancé just returned from a weekend in London - staying in the Westpoint Hotel. On first impressions the hotel is a great. It is in an excellent location and even looks lovely from the outside and the lobby area is very inviting. The staff on reception were fantastic- very friendly. It is only when you get to your room do you see this hotel for what it is. The room was very old & small. The decor is extremely dated but to be fair and again with great credit to all of the staff at the hotel -it was clean. The bathroom was extremely small and was about 3ft from the bed- it offers absolutely no privacy for the occupant- with barely even enough room to dry off after a shower in the space. Our room was so small that we had to keep our suitcase on a chair in front of the door so that we could walk around the bed and access the bathroom. When we first went into the room we noticed that it was very cold & noisy- assuming that the windows were opened to perhaps air the room we attempted to close them. It was then that we noticed that the windows were closed but there was a gap of approximately 1 inch in between the top & bottom panes. We could actually put our hands outside the supposedly shut windows. Again the staff were helpful & sent up the maintance person to look at the problem - the only solution that he could offer was to fill the gaps with towels which he did for us. This seemed to solve the problem of the noise & cold, however there was a lage amount of condensation building up in the room over the weekend. Trying to make the best of a bad situation we made a decision to spend as little time as possible in the room over the weekend. I see from a lot of other reviews that for the price it is great hotel- I have to completely disagree with this. We spent £100 a night on the place- which was certainly not good value for money given the standard of the room. You would be far better off staying in a Premier Inn or somewhere similar as they have a basic standard at least. On our last morning we noticed that there was a brownish fluid leaking from the vent in the bathroom on to the lid of the toilet. I am sure that if we had reported this to the staff they would have fixed the problem but at that stage we just wanted put this down to a bad experience so we packed our bag and left. My boyfriend mentioned to me that during his student days inter-railing across Europe that he stayed in nicer Hostels. I had always held the opinion that I would be happy enough to stay in a place that offered a clean bed and a hot shower- if I ever decide to return to London I may need to add a few more basic requirements to my wish list before I would consider booking.
