First impressions were not positive-we thought we were in the YMCA which is actually next door .Reception area was bare and unwelcoming.Roon was very basic with old windows in poor condition that rattled all night in the wind. When we complained the receptionist did offer the opportunity to change rooms but advised they were all the same-at least she was honest! Weather improved after the first night so it wasn't a problem for the rest of our stay. Bathroom door was too big for the frame so it didn't close properly.Light made a loud noise when switched on.Beds were not comfortable with very soft, low pillows and traditional blankets. All rooms are twin-no doubles in this hotel.
On a positive note there was a safe in one of the wardrobes-key from reception for a £10 refundabe deposit. Hospitality tray with kettle/tea/coffee/long life milk. Continental breakfast included in room rate.Rooms were clean and white towels in bathroom were in good condition. There is a bar in the hotel-we didn't see anyone using it during our stay.
Location is great . Excellent transport links. Good restaurants /bars in area.We ate in Taromina ,an Italian restaurant in the same street in hotel ,the Mitre pub also on same street as well as The Swan on Bayswater Rd just round from the hotel. They were all good.
Our first reaction to this accommodation was somewhat negative but after our 4 nights we thought it had been OK-it wasn't great but we did get a good deal on the room rate through Octopus Travel.
We have stayed in several 3 star hotels in London and this one wasn't as good.
