We stayed here over a Saturday night on 6th February using a Groupon offer. My main disappointment was that we were given a smokers room. It stank of cold cigar and cigarette smell. I asked to be moved to a non-smoking room but they were fully booked. We were given an air freshner spray which I sprayed at least 5 times on the soft furnishings to get rid of the smell. When I unpacked at home all my clothes smelt of smoke. The hotel said that it was the last room available, however at the time of booking they never asked whether I wanted smoking or non. Evening meal was OK - Bernie Inn style. The breakfast was again OK, although there was plenty of choice. We were asked for an imprint of our card upon checking in and then later in the evening when we bought drinks we had to pay cash and couldn't put them on our card!! Good position, staff attentive in the restaurant but the room really spoilt our weekend.

A friend and I stayed here on 6th February and had a decent stay. We both agreed the beds were really comfortable and we slept very well even though the hotel is near the road. The Twin room was a good size, with tea making facilities and a bottle of water. Breakfast was good, the fried breakfast was nothing special but they did offer chocolate muffins, which I thought was a nice touch!

The room cost £260 which I think is far too high for what was just an o.k hotel. I think you are paying for the location. I found the staff at reception friendly and we were able to check out at 1pm which was fantastic.

Hairdryer was excellent as was storage space and lots of hangers. Breakfast was extremely overpriced. We had breakfast both mornings and were charged a staggering 62 pound for the pleasure!

Breakfast consited of for me on the second morning, some bacon and beans and one glass of orange juice. I didn't have tea or coffee or toast as there was no bread. I feel to be charged 15 pound for this is outrageous. We also eat in the restaurant and their burger is priced at 14 pound! 14 pound for a frozen burger!

Stayed for 2 nights Sept 2010 and it was quite good. For this reason we booked again for 1 night in Nov 2011. We won't be going back again!
The check-in was overly complicated and in the room the hairdrier kept cutting out as well as smelling as if the plastic was melting. We told reception but they just looked disinterested in what we felt was a major health & safety issue.
The breakfast was awful. The room was so full that we had to eat at tables in the bar area; our table was sticky and smelly. The side plate had a knife on it that had the remnants of the previous diner's butter!
Undaunted, and getting a clean knife, we went to get the breakfast. There was a really depleted choice - no fried eggs (only scrambled) no has browns - no marmalde portions available - a really poor choice.
We sat down and because the plates were stone cold the meal was inedible before we were half way through.
I e-mailed the hotel upon our return to share these observations - no response. Then I had an e-mail (tick boxes etc) from the parent company asking about my view of the stay. I added my views (once again) but (once again) received nothing back and to date still haven't.
It was electrically unsafe in the room - the food was too limited - the cleanliness was appalling and the management just don't care. Perhaps that explains it?
We won't be going back again and I feel that I don't want to trust any hotel in this chain since even Head Office didn't feel concerned enough to respond to my comments in their survey.
