The day before my scheduled arrival at the NEH, London, the receptionist called to tell me to tell me that my information was not taken correctly and that it was my fault and that they had cancelled my reservation! That was my first indication that this hotel would be a let-down. She then proceeded to tell me that I would have to make a new reservation, at a higher cost than what was previously quoted. Since it was the day before our arrival, and we had other family staying there, we had no choice. We made the reservation again, amid tisks and sighs from this cheeky woman. I should have told her to forget it. It was an old place they had not bothered to keep up. The looks on the guests' faces at breakfast said it all. Not a single happy customer in the room. Masking tape on the carpet, no help with our bags, tiny showers, shabby shabby shabby. And rudeness on top of everything else. The most money I've paid for the smallest return, I wish we'd never stayed, but our cousins had made the res and we wanted to be close to them. The whole experience was, in a word, horrendous.
