“Stay Somewhere Else”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed here in April with my kids and my parents. The rooms were small, the beds uncomfortable and the breakfast was very disappointing. The location was great, but there are a number of other hotels/B&Bs in the area. We chose this hotel because they had 4-person family rooms that would my husband and I with our kids, and the price was right. In hindsight, I wish we would have spent a little bit more money and stayed someplace else.

Excellent location !!! Only minutes walk to the Victoria Station and the underground. Definitely a good choice for city trips.
And easily walkable distance to Buckingham palace and beautiful St .James's and Green Parks.
The area around the hotel was safe and nice, and there were nice shops and coffee houses nearby.
Very kind and friendly staff !!! Good service and good continental breakfast !!!
Overall an excellent value for money choice I would choose it again without hesitation.

“One Look Says It All”

The day before my scheduled arrival at the NEH, London, the receptionist called to tell me to tell me that my information was not taken correctly and that it was my fault and that they had cancelled my reservation! That was my first indication that this hotel would be a let-down. She then proceeded to tell me that I would have to make a new reservation, at a higher cost than what was previously quoted. Since it was the day before our arrival, and we had other family staying there, we had no choice. We made the reservation again, amid tisks and sighs from this cheeky woman. I should have told her to forget it. It was an old place they had not bothered to keep up. The looks on the guests' faces at breakfast said it all. Not a single happy customer in the room. Masking tape on the carpet, no help with our bags, tiny showers, shabby shabby shabby. And rudeness on top of everything else. The most money I've paid for the smallest return, I wish we'd never stayed, but our cousins had made the res and we wanted to be close to them. The whole experience was, in a word, horrendous.

“I won't be back”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

Room was scruffy in appearance - walls very scuffed and dirty. Carpet could use a good cleaning and vacuuming especially along the base boards.
Mattresses were soft with noticeable bed springs - not very comfortable
Carpet on stairs worn and edges of some stairs covered with tape.
Many staff was not as friendly as their website describes. Also don't be mislead by the pictures on their website.
English for at least some of the staff is a second language.
We had received a fax that was never passed to us and when we asked if one had arrived we were informed "they don't provide this service".
Wifi is not free (30 GBP for 3 days) and connectivity is poor (at least in our room) so definitely not worth the extra money.
Room key deposit required
Bathroom had noticeable mold in the shower stall.
Sheets were clean but the blankets and cover were filthy. Our request for clean ones was honored (ended up with sheets as covers) but not received well. One pillow per person.
Only one towel per person. No hand towels available.
Not wheelchair accessible - elevator available, but it stops at 1/2 floors so stairs still need to be used to reach the rooms.
One staff member told us they have doubled their room rates for the Olympics (we paid 373.80 GBP for 4 nights)
Breakfast is very simple - cereal, white toast (asked for brown and still got white), juice, tea or coffee. Dishes washed by hand. Breakfast room appeared clean.
Charge 10 GBP per hour (or portion thereof) if late checking out (check out is at 10:00)
Rooms were stuffy so wanted to have window open. However concerned that pigeons would join us (they left tell tale signs that they perch on the window ledge) if we opened the window too wide
Curtain covering window I think was supposed to be white, but was very gray

Room Tip: No tips. Our room overlooked a busy street so there was traffic noise but I am not sure if there are...

“DO NOT STAY HERE. WORST PLACE TO STAY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2011

We were gone for a month traveling Scotland, England, and this is the worst place we stayed in a month of B&B'S. The staff were not freindly, it seemed like they hated their jobs. The breakfast was really bad, just toast for hot food, I looked in the kitchen and saw the guy wiping the cups with out water to clean them. The room was very dirty. We stayed 3 nights and in that 3 nights they never vacumned our carpets once. The blankets on the bed were stained and had hair all over them. DO NOT STAY HERE YOU WILL BE SORRY.
