“Very disappointing for a Radisson”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Booked this hotel as was attending a conference here. I assumed that with it being a Radisson it would be of a certain standard knowing the brand from other hotels...
I agree with a lot of both the positive and negative comments on here however my overall rating is based on the poor customer service .. there was no real interest in me as a customer from most of the staff - bar the concierge who was quite helpful (although you would expect that bearing in mind their role!). You would expect that on checking out you would be asked about your stay... this wasnt the case. I was so pleased just to be checking out anyway I didnt want to spend any longer there had I been asked anyway.
In summary:
- business room very dated and noisy - noise including plumbing from above rooms, - glass bottles being thrown into skip at rear of hotel at both midnight at 2am (I admit this may not be from the hotel but it does affect your overall experience);
- very dusty in bedroom - especially on ledge behind bed;
- bathroom not to a standard you would expect - eg hairs in the bath;
- no hot water in the morning;
- plug socket hanging off wall behind table;
- sign on door stated I could access free movies during business stay - no instructions on how to do this;
- room service was a let down (with a charge of £4 not what you would expect) - the meal I ordered wasnt available yet I was still charged for it ...
I feel it was every expensive (£210) despite its very good location...I wish I had booked to stay in a Premier Inn - you know what you are getting for your money then.
I will take the time to write to the hotel to get their comments.

Amazing food, if you like good quality food in a restaurant hotel or anywhere well the Radisson Blu Portman is the place to stay, drinks are a bit pricey and food maybe a little expensive but its good breakfast well fantastic arrange off all breads just everything to fill up on before adventuring into london sightseeing.
I certainley would go back and highly recommend this hotel. Just perfect.

“Great location - rooms a bit shabby.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I stay at Radisson hotels quite frequently and arrived fresh from the Radisson Royal in Dubai only to be starkly reminded that I was back in central London when i opened the room door after a 90 minute wait in the lobby. The room was dated and shabby and for some reason I had a disabled room and all the extra cords, buttons and railings seemed to detract further from the appearance. As a gold Carlsson member it was all a bit dissatisfying.

However, i did have to change my flight arrangements and left at 8 PM the same night and received an unasked for reduction of GBP120 in the daily rate. It was then that i realised that all Central London hotels do show there age a bit but that the staff here were all super friendly and helpful wherever possible. The waiter Karthik in the lobby area is a real testament to great service and attention Nice one :-)

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking your time to review your recent stay with us. I was disappointed to read that we were not able to meet your expectations when it comes to the room you had been given. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincerest apology for the allocation chosen for you. Considering you are a Gold Elite member we considered a larger room to be appropriate, I can however understand that the emergency cord and button can be misleading.

We are aware that the hotel is in need of a refurbishment and I am pleased to confirm that we are in the process of planning such. Until a date is set we will be softly upgrading where necessary in order to maintain the standard our guests expect from us.

I do hope that this recent experience does not deter you from returning to the hotel in the near future as we would be delighted to welcome you back to the hotel. Until then, please do not hesitate to contact me either via telephone on +44 (0) 207 208 6000 or via email on stefanie.korte@radissonblu.com in case I can be of any further assistance.

With kind regards,
Stefanie

“Excellent Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We stayed at Radisson Blu on New Years Eve for two nights. We arrived earlier than the planned 2pm check in time but were pleased that our room was ready and we had been upgraded to business class, which was a nice treat. I was impressed with the hotel room, there was a coffee machine and dressing gowns and slippers were provided, which was a nice touch. The bed was huge and very comfortable.

Breakfast seemed to be a disorganised affair, the food didn't seem to be laid out in a logical order. On New Years Day the dining room for breakfast was under staffed and I didn't manage to get anyone's attention to be able to get a cup of coffee! The following day it seemed much quieter & calmer; I was able to get a cuppa! The good thing about the breakfast was there was plenty of choice, continental breakfast, fresh fruit, full English, pastries, cereals, the list was endless.....

What disappointed me with this hotel was the lack of customer service, we stood ages waiting to be seated for breakfast which is fine I appreciate it was very busy but it is nice to acknowledged it felt like we were ignored. We also went into the bar area for a drink, and were sat there for 15 minutes waiting to be served, there were two bar men behind the bar both of whom completely ignored us. I felt a bit cheated having to pay the £3 service charge for our two drinks when the service was poor.

The best thing about this hotel is its location, its a five minute walk to Marble Arch tube station, as its set back off Oxford Street its not as noisy as some central London hotels. We enjoyed our stay at the Radisson Blu, its not the best hotel I have ever stayed in but its by no means the worst.

“great weekend at the portman Radisson”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We recently stayed in the Radisson at Portman Square for 3 nights in early January . We arrived from a very early flight and were delighted to hear that our room was ready . We were upgraded to Buisness class which was a nice surprise , a warm and efficient check in from Jolanta . The room was brilliant and even had an Nespresso coffee maker .
Every member of staff we met were smiling and helpful , Peter in the bar , Grace & Beatrice in the Restaurant , the Accomadation staff and even the security guy who came up to unlock the safe for us .
I've been in the hotel buisness for 30 years and would be a real critic when staying somewhere . This Radisson I could not find fault with . The excellant Buffett Bfts which was constantly being replenished by staff . A gem if you want to stay in London and so central .
