“Quiet , perfect location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2010

Went with my wife now in October 2010 , stayed 5 nights, ok hotel , location is perfect, 1 block from Earls Court road ( full of restaurants of all kinds from Kebabs to Burger King and Nando's, pubs, supermarkets including a local Sansburry , pharmacies , internet cybercafes, all kinds of local amenities) and also very close to the Earls Court station. Few minutes away by subway from many turistic attractions. I consider the location and quietness of the hotel its strengths.

The hotel does not have elevator so be prepared to drag your luggage up the stairs on your own. Cleaniness I would say is ok , bathroom is relatively good size and the room is ok eventhough the bed ( at least in this room I stayed ) was not too comfortable.

The only really negative point I would highlight are the ladies at the breakfast as well as the time is served. Eventhough the price was ok and it has included a breakfast , I went only one day. First , they finish serving it at 09:00am sharp. Actually at 08:40m, they already start trying to push you out. I usually wake up early but since we were in vacation I did want to one day or another wake up at 08:30 / 09:00 to get some rest and be prepared to walk all day long through london. The ladies serving the breakfast were rude and not only with us but with all other customers. Avoid breakfast and get something to eat at the local supermarkets and you will be fine. The rest of the hotel is ok for what you pay for , good cost benefit in a quiet and perfect location.

“Clean, Cosy and PERFECT for a budget stay in London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

Being a lover of our capital city, I try to visit 2 or 3 times a year. Being on a northern persons wages I try to find the best deals going. On this occasion my cousin and I visited London for two nights. We both found the Manor Hotel, PERFECT for our requirements.

The hotel is in a very convenient place to Earl's Court underground station with lots of eating places and pubs on the doorstep. It is in a typically London side road which has no noise from traffic whatsoever.

On arrival at around 2 p.m we were greeted by a very friendly oriental looking lady who was cleaning the outside of the hotel, she took us straight to the reception desk and booked us in. We asked about 'curfew' time and were told there wasn't any. We could come back at any time we chose (which proved absolutely right). On a budget hotel the only thing we expect are clean beds (everything else is a bonus). First sight of the room and the twin beds had brilliant white sheets and beddings and the bathroom was clean and tidy. It was bigger than many 'budget' hotels we have stayed in London. There were enough drawers and hanging space and a t.v as well. We were well happy with our choice and went out for the day returning at 1 a.m. and were greeted by a really friendly man when we returned. We found the beds really comfortable and slept really well as there was no noise from anywhere.

Included in the budget price was a 'continental' breakfast. We couldn't believe they would actually give us something to eat for the price as well and it was fine - the kind of breakfast you would have at home - fruit juice, cereal and toast, tea and coffee. In fact the hotel was akin to spending time with friends in their house. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful but totally unintrusive. There were no strict rules about anything,

One thing we found very helpful was there was an abundance of literature in the hotel about London and maps etc which helped us decide what we wanted to do and how to go about finding it.

We will definitely return to this particular hotel and most definitely recommend to friends who want a no nonsense exceptionally priced central location lodgings. Thank you the staff at the Manor, we wish our holiday had been longer.

“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

Went to a concert at Royal Albert stayed her for 1 night.

Pros:
Easy to find
Good location
Sink in room
Old fashioned radio built into wall
near bars/pubs/restaurants

Cons:
Room are filthy- especially carpets i contacted a form of athletes foot after my visit
Thin walls/bed squeaks
Desperate need of new towels

Alright for a cheap place to crash, really good late night takeaway curry place on corner, just right before turning into the street, would recommended for late night munch.

“A decent stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks while i was working and looking for an apartment to live in...
I basically just got there to sleep and it just fit its purpouse. Nothing more, nothing less. I stayed in the budget room (£40 per night).

“Cold and unwelcoming reception staff and poor room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2009

Made a late booking by phone to arrive next day for one night for two adults. We were attending a wedding in nearby Cobham, Kent.

Booking taken by Eileen. Although she provided a reasonable phone service, she was abrupt and cold with me. Initially I was quoted £119/night. On the web the price is £75. When I queried this she became very defensive and evasive. When I asked about the wedding rate she said they have variable rates depending on whose wedding it was. Anyway, I was then finally quoted £75 b&b. Reserved with a credit card. As an afterthought, I asked what the cancellation poilcy was. Her reply was that it is a 48 hour policy and that its now too late to cancel!! (This is about 20 seconds after gibving her my card details!) I hoped my journey from Cheshire was not going to suffer an unforeseen delay!

On arrival, the same person (Eileen) attended at the front desk. I was not acknowledged on arrival. Her back was turned to me while she was filling in some paper work. After about a minute she turned to me and completed check in. I mentioned that I may need a child's bed for in our room but will only know later on that day.

Bedroom was clean and tidy. We had a child bed delivered to the room that night. No aircon or ventilation in the room. The window opened up next to two aircon exhaust ducts. Therefore not possible to keep the window open. A fan on the ceiling was extremely noisy making it impossible to sleep! The mattress was far too soft and very uncomfortable. Needless to say, we didn't get a good sleep.that night!

We had breakfast at 09:30. Clean and tidy. Not much variety and the eggs and coffee were cold. Got the impression that the staff wanted us out of there asap.

On check out, the same receptionist (Eileen) charged me £20 for the child bed. I pointed to a sign on the wall saying the price was £10! She again became very defensive and said that price was without breakfast. I said I was unwilling to pay what then would have been £10 for breakfast for a child that had a glass of orange juice and plate of CocoPops! She relented and reduced the charge to a more reasonable £10.

I thanked her. She didn't respond or say goodby when I left the reception counter.

I would not rate the reception or reservation experience as friendly or helpful. It was indeed cold and sterile. I got the distinct impression that they were out to get as much money out of me as possible; understandable in the present economic climate but in this case, short sighted. I would not stay there again and not recommend the hotel. I have experienced far better hotels for similar prices in the area.
