The Hazel Wood Guesthouse was the worst place we stayed on our three week trip through Europe. It was very unclean. The carpet looked like it was 20 years old and was obviously never washed and hardly ever vacuumed. There were stains on the bathroom floor. The shower was dirty and obviously never cleaned with as much care as one would expect, even in a cheaper hotel. The cable cord for the TV (which hardly worked) was taped to the adjacent wall with packaging tape. There were also stains on the walls and carpet. The bed was possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on - stiff as a board! Everything was as bottom end as it could possibly be. There was one iron for the entire hotel. One hair dryer for the entire hotel on which the buttons were all broken. There was no microwave anywhere or a refrigerator for guests. The dishes that were there were sparse and usually dirty.
The owner was rarely on the premises which made it very difficult to check in/out and obtain other important information. Thoroughly unprofessional. The property was not secure - the back door was left unlocked so anyone could walk right in if they simply hopped over a fence.
Yes it is on the cheap side for a place to stay in London but there are plenty of other affordable alternatives. We could go on...bottom line: do not stay here!
