“Diasappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Sorry to diasagree with other reviewers but I found the food mediocre, the wait staff slap-dash,and the barman was the original Mr. Grumpy !
The proprietor informed us that the kitchen would be closed for Sunday evening as he only had a few guests so we would have to eat out. Oh Joy !
On a plus side our room was cleaned to a high standard.

As a manager of the Silversands Hotel, the staff and I also found this review very disappointing. Christmas comes early in Blackpool in fact the decorations went up in the dining room on Sunday the 30th October!! This date happens to be the only day evening meals haven’t been served since April, and sure enough Scrooge has left his complaints on Tripadvisor. Personal comments referring to Mr Grumpy is totally unfair, three bar staff were on duty over this weekend and an air of suspicion now hangs over the staff. If we were allowed to make personnel comments and observations about customers that stay at the Silversands Hotel, then we could fill volumes.
The evening meals are served at one sitting of 5.30pm every evening and for £7.50 you get five courses. This price may be very mediocre but the food quality and service is excellent value.
Merry Christmas to you all (today is our third Christmas day since October!!)

“Unwanted surprise!!”

Having stayed here for just a nights stay we arrived at the hotel and were quickly given our hotel room keys. As we arrived at 2pm we quickly just had a look around the room and seen that it appeared to be clean on the surface. As we was only here for the night we left our bags in the room and then ventured out. On arriving at the hotel at night around 8pm we eventually went back to the room to have a rest. As we didnt unpack our bags we decided to do this now, HOWEVER when we opened the draw at the bottom of wardrobe we were shocked to say the least.....WHY??? we found a pair of ladies soiled underwear. You cant even begin to imagine our discust!!!! we went down to see somebody to complain about our room and we were told to come back in a hours time when the manager arrived. We went back to our room and later came down an hour later, however the manager was still not around so we had to wait at the bar for around 20 minutes until he arrived. When the manager finally appeared and we told him the situation he simpily said all i can do is apoligise, we even had to ask him to come and remove the underwear and he said he would do in a few minutes after serving customers at the bar!!!! We then decided to get some fresh air outside, we were gone for only 5 minutes to return to our room to find that the manager had just simpily came into our room and removed the underwear that was the last we seen of him that night. If we would have come across this situation at an earlier time we would have asked for a full refund and found somewhere else to stay as we found the whole experience very unprofesional on behalf of the hotels managment/cleaners and found the rest of our night to be very unsettling and we were not able to unpack our things as the underwear was just removed and the draw wasnt even cleaned afterwards. The next morning as we were checking out we bumped into the manager who no doubt about it was very apologetic, but we feel that more should have been done for health and hygine reasons on behalf of the hotel as we found the stay to be unsettling and as said above if we found this earlier we would have found alternitive accomodation.

As the manager of the Silversands Hotel we were very surprised to receive such a poor review from a nice young couple. We did receive a complaint about some used clothes in a room and the matter was acted upon by the management within 5 minutes. An item in a plastic bag in a draw had been missed by the cleaning staff. The item was removed and the draws wiped out as standard cleaning practice. When asked if there were any other issues with the bedroom the couple replied that everything else was fine. The bathroom was clean the sheets and bed linen were clean, the floor vacuumed, the glass and sides polished and wiped, the teas/coffees were replenished. We have got very experienced cleaning staff at the Silversands Hotel some who have worked for over 20 years in house keeping. Everyone endeavours to produce as good a product as possible for our guests and to give them a happy and satisfactory stay with us here. In this instance we have let down this young couple, who were so upset about some dirty washing in a bag in their room that they had to tell every one on the internet via the biggest review website on the internet. Although we have hundreds of people staying at the Silversands each month not all of them have access to the internet, but we do get a large number of thank you cards which are displayed around the hotel.

“Quality cooking, and a tranquil place for a good family run hotel.”

My 80 year old disabled mother and I stayed at the Silversands hotel. we were booked into the Stuart Hotel across the road, but were over booked on a National Holiday, and due to needing a lift we were offered the silversands. which met our needs, we were given room 204 on the second floor, which was small but perfect for our needs. the food was fantastic, the bar was good with Carlsberg Lager at £2-70. there was no entertainment when we stayed which wasn't a problem for us. this hotel doesn't cater for hen /stag parties, so if you want a family holiday or you are a couple, who like a quiet holiday give the Silversands Hotel a try. we will be returning.

Room Tip: A .taxi from the hotel to the Tower costs £5-50, very good for a family. with Whiteside Taxis freef...
