“xcellent value for money compared with many in Blackpool”

I have stayed at this hotel for almost 8 months and having tried many other similar priced hotels in Blackpool, The Plazza is very good compared with some which cost me a lot more money! The rooms are spacious and the on suite bath rooms are very clean and spacious too. The staff were all very friendly and always went the extra mile to do as I had requested.
The morning breakfast was better than most, if not the best for a hotel in Blackpool (even Breakfast at Tiffanni's came a long way behaind this one)
All in all, I had a very good stay which is why I spent 8 months there whilst working in Blackpool. I always end up going back to the place that stands out and makes me feel welcome.

(bad points) : if you are on the 1st floor and there is a function on, then the noise from the disco will keeo you awake if you are an early sleeper!
: The heating isn't the best, but if you ask for a storage heater to be put in your room, this is perfectly fine and works just as well.

Neil Ellis.

Room Tip: 106 is by far the best room in the hotel, tho it is down the side street and not to the front!

“Faulty towers lives again!!”

OMG! What an absolutely horrendous place to stay. The icing on the cake was the dirty dishcloth left in a plantpot on the landing of the first floor. This remained there for the 2 nights we stayed there. We were looking forward to having a few drinks in the bar before venturing out. Unfortunately this was not meant to be as there was no beer?! There has been a flood which we were informed about which meant no TV. This we could have coped with. It was the blood on the curtains, mold in the bathroom dirty stained carpet and general filthy condition of the hotel!
Stear clear!! There are enough hotels in Blackpool to never have to stay here!

Room Tip: dont! terrible!

“A pleasant little hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

We booked this hotel as a group in December for a Christmas trip to Blackpool.

After reading other reviews, hopes were not high, but I was pleasantly surprised! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we got a nice warm welcome on a dreadful cold, wet evening. Overall the hotel is a bit "tired" (worn out carpets, bulbs not working, faded decorations etc), but it was the end of the season.

Whilst the room wouldnt win any style awards, it was clean, reasonably spacious, had a comfortable bed, and a perfectly acceptable bathroom (even had a limited sea view - although you couldnt really tell through the sheets of rain!). I think we took the bar by surprise, as it didnt take long to run out of chilled beer, but they improvised well.

The breakfast the following morning was very good, lots of hot food nicely presented, plenty of tea and coffee on offer, and a very pleasant breakfast room to eat in.

So overall for £30 (sharing) for a night I'd say this is good value - perhaps we were lucky with the room, but the friendly and approachable staff went a long way to making this quite an enjoyable brief stay.

Room Tip: We were in room 211, seemed quite quiet, and with a sea view (albeit down a side road)

“Doing their best with what they've got”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

The hotel is pleasant enough and for what we were looking for was at the value end of the choices.

The room was pleasant, clean and tidy, fresh towels, good bathroom and flat screen TV.

The weather outside was truly horrific (in true Blackpool style) and the glazing was struggling to keep the high winds quiet outside. Thus sadly the bedroom door did rattle a little. Thought this said, winds like these may not be the norm.

The bar downstairs had a problem with the gas feed to all of the pumps so sadly no beer (they’d already sold the four bottles they had) and the soda too was flat. A quick trip out to a cash and carry could have solved this swiftly and kept the thirsty guests happy.

On return from our evening out, we were met by a rather odd scene in that whilst we were out the hotel had suffered a flood which had knocked out most of the hotels electrics. This has been dealt with, however there were some areas of complete darkness, the stairs for one, and the hotel was now rather cold as the heating too had failed.

The buffet breakfast in the morning was very good, considering that we were told that half of the kitchen had no power still.

The receptionist throughout was superb (she is the biggest asset to this hotel). Very apologetic which being bright, smiley and bubbly and apologetic. We did get some £25 off discount vouchers for a return visit – just not sure that we will ever use them.

You do just think though that these little issues and disasters may happen on a far to frequent basis.

The hotel is doing the best it can with what it’s got. The stay was pleasant enough, just don’t expect too much for £60 for a twin room and your expectations will be met.

Room Tip: Try to choose somehwere on the lower floors and not towards the back of the hotel or you may get los...

“Would not stay here again”

The hotel was a disappointment, the room we had booked was very dated and dreary, the beds were not very comfortable and the bathroom was really small, the breakfast was awful they kept on running out of food and when it eventually did arrive it was cold, everyone was complaining we were glad when it was time to leave

Room Tip: The lower the better
