Being summoned into a room full of TV-watching Kosovo-Alabanians and ordered to sit down by the landlady, a snappy 4ft-tall midget of SE Asian origin, does not make for a good start, especially given that the online reviews refer to a homely trad-sounding gaff.The area itself is awful too - Salford-on-Sea with more aliens & Orwellian architecture/wind. We legged it.

My wife and I spent a very pleasant week at the Highfield Hotel on the North Shore at Blackpool Lancashire England.

The evening meals were amazing 3 course and all homemade soups and desserts beautifully presented.

You were treated as a guest in someone's home, nothing was too much trouble, The beds were firm but not hard, the bathroom en-suite was very clean which was an important consideration for my wife.
It is a small friendly hotel the one point is that all the bedrooms are upstairs and there is no lift, so if you are in a wheelchair or find stairs a problem then this is not the hotel for you, however if you enjoy the taste of food from the Phillipines along with traditional English then this is the place to stay while you are in Blackpool.

The hotel is on Empress Drive just beside the Cliffs hotel handy for either the bus or Blackpool trams.
