“Good accommodation in "kiss me quick" country!”

Never stayed in Blackpool in my life, but booked this as a one night extension to a short stay in Morecambe, and to split the journey home for my wife and I.

First things first... DON'T book car parking... there is plenty of free parking street side in front of the hotel, but I guess high season may be a different question. Reception was friendly and fast. The communal areas were clean and tidy.

The room was very good, benefiting from the relative youth of this facility. I gather the facility has only been open 3 years and it shows! General cleanliness was very good. Shower not a bath...The shower was excellent, loads of hot water and at a good pressure, but remember your toiletries... this is a Travelodge!!! The button covers were missing on the shower controls, but this is a small gripe.

The bed was soft but comfortable, a flat screen TV complimented well. The ambient lighting behind the bed is a clever idea but at what cost?

I booked breakfast and dinner as part of the package - this Travelodge benefits from a cafe-bar. It would of been cheaper to eat in the town but the food was good (not sure if microwaved, but still good), and served in ample portions. Dinner had a good choice and included 2 courses and a drink. Breakfast had a good choice, was hot and included as much toast as you wanted. The one disappointment was that my croissant was dry. If included with the booking there is a small discount on the meals.

In brief, if you want to stay in Blackpool, you can do a lot worse than here!!!

“Another fantastic stay at Travelodge Blackpool South Promenade!”

My partner and I have just arrived back from a 3 night stay at the Blackpool South Promenade Travelodge. We stayed here a few months back and enjoyed it so much, we thought we'd return for my birthday.

Check in was fast and the receptionists are friendly. Although there is a pay and display car park for the hotel, there is free on-street parking, so we parked on the street for the whole of our stay.

As with our last stay, the room and bathroom was spacious and clean, with a big comfy bed. The mood lighting around the bed is great.

The only thing I will grumble about is the lack of storage space. There are no drawers to put anything, only a few hangers on an open wardrobe and space on top to put folded clothes. There was only one pillow per person, which wasn't quite enough for us, we like two each! I requested more from reception and they put them in our room for us while we were gone, which was nice.

The bar in the hotel is ok, we had a drink, but because it was out of season, we were the only ones in there. My partner said his beer tasted like the barrel hadn't been changed for a while, but given all the other places to drink in Blackpool, we weren't planning to use the bar again.

The hotel serves food all day, and if you're feeling peckish late into the night, they do a few snacks for those late night munchies. I tried the pizza, which was delicious, tasted like takeaway pizza, and also the chips, which were of the frozen variety, but did the job.

We will definately visit this travelodge again, especially because at £19 per room if you book a few months in advance, it's much cheaper than other hotels and guest houses in Blackpool and the rooms are so big and comfy!

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the rear of the hotel both times, which isn't very nice. If you asked...

“Great price, clean and functional.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We stayed at the Travelodge on Balmoral Road, Blackpool between Christmas and New Year 2011. It made a good base whilst we were visiting family and friends. The room was basic (identical to other Travelodge rooms) but very clean, with a good shower. Our window overlooked the small car park for which there was an extra charge, but we managed to park free, on the street nearby. I had managed to secure ten pound per night deals via the Travelodge website - so it would have been hard to complain at only thirty pounds for three nights, but it would have still been a good deal at double the price. We only used the room to shower/sleep in and didn´t eat in the restaurant, but I would definitely stay there again. If I had to make one criticism I would say that the beds are not of high quality, but it didn´t affect our stay. Well done Travelodge!

“Dirty Hotel, central location, poor parking facilities.”

I have stated in several travelodges and they are considered value for money however this particular hotel is badly managed and management clearly needs a kick up the bottom. There is no excuses for dirty facilities, no remote controls and stupid staff who clearly are simple...
