“very basic”

We had two rooms. One of the rooms was tiny and I am in agreement in one of the other reviewers as it was a struggle to sleep on the bed without rolling off the matress. We eventually propped up the side of the bed by placing blankets etc under the matress. The bathroom was adequate. The other bedroom was adequate, however, the bathroom must have been the smallest I have ever seen! The location is good.

“Not our favourite place”

A good central location, but only pay parking available during the day. We struggled to get our suitcase up the narrow stairs, into a postage stamp sized room, with an even smaller bathroom. The bed was terrible. We spent the night trying to stay on it and not roll off the edges. The shower pressure and water temperature were excellent. We even found 2 fold-up chairs in the wardrobe, and wondered how on earth they could be used in that tiny room. The decor was fine, and it was clean and presentable. Breakfast was ok, but I couldn't drink the instant coffee that was served. Once again, we felt cramped in the breakfast room. The whole place felt claustrophobic to us, and would better suit younger folk or singles.

“never disappointed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

Recently stayed here for the 3rd time, taking advantage of the well priced 3 night midweek offer, so thought it was time to ‘review.’
The Westbury is well situated within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops and pubs.
The 1st stay was excellent, as was the most recent, which speaks well for consistency over a 3 year period.
1st of note is the warm welcome from the owners Jo and Al, and for whom a 2nd and 3rd booking must be confirmation that they’re ticking all the right boxes.
The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Granted, the bathroom is small, however it is ample and spotlessly clean.
The breakfast’s are generous, tasty and set you up for the day.
Generally, you are always able to park somewhere on the road especially after 6pm.

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2009

First time to this area, made very welcome by Jo who runs the B&B. Bedroom was spacious and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was a bit on the small side but who spends all day in there anyway! Excellent breakfast. Highly recommended to all.

“Not perfect but all right, good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2006

We stayed at the Westbury House for two nights in September. It was rather difficult to find free parking when we arrived. The owner was friendly and helpful, the accommodation was clean and the breakfast was good and very hot.
Our room was extremely small. That’s no problem when you just go there to sleep but it was pouring with rain when we stayed there and the room wasn’t very inviting to spend a rainy afternoon in it. The TV was on top of the cupboard and you couldn’t see it very well unless you were standing on the bed. We couldn’t find the remote control. We could have asked about it of course, but as you couldn’t really see that much anyway we didn’t bother. The bed was all right but not too comfortable. The shower room was like a built in cupboard. I had read the reviews but I still hadn’t expected it to be that small. It had a sliding door because there wouldn’t have been enough room for any other door to open. The size was all right for us but it might be difficult for bigger people. The shower was great and there was plenty of hot water even though we got up rather late in the mornings.
Overall Westbury House was all right. It wasn’t wonderful but it was good value for money. A slightly larger room would have made a big difference.
