Booked two rooms for a night over the Easter weekend. Haven't stayed in a Travelodge for years (usually use Premier Inn). The rooms were fine, but appear a bit basic - only a plastic chair at a desk and the sofa bed - just seems a bit sparse.
Would have given a good review if we hadn't stayed for breakfast! The onsite eating area only has 22 seats, so very quickly gets filled up. We were lucky to get a free table, but others later than us had to wait about 15 minutes for a table to become free. The actual breakfast is fine, but there was only one member of staff responsible for keeping food stocked and clearing tables. She didn't seem at all stressed and seemed to be operating in a very relaxed (slow) manner. Food and utensils just weren't getting re-stocked. I had to separately ask for plates for the cooked breakfast, cups for coffee, knives, bread for toasting and butter. I nearly had to ask for milk as well, but that appeared just as I was about to ask...
The table clearing wasn't happening, so people were piling their used crockery themselves to clear tables for the waiting people. Rather than getting a tray and clearing all this stuff quickly, the staff member just occasionally took away what she could manage in her hands (so basically it never got cleared). We managed to get everything we needed (eventually), but it was really amusingly badly organised. I began to wonder whether Travelodge were trying to reduce the amount of food consumed by making it as difficult as possible to get your breakfast.
