“Birthday celebration”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We booked a night at The Grand, as we had arranged a night out with friends in Brighton. We had always wanted to try it, and we were not dissapointed. The room we were given was number 720, and overlooked the sea, although the room was a little tired, it was certainly big, and the bed was very comfortable. We found the bar staff attentive and the lunch excellent. We enjoyed a long leasurely breakfast unhurried by the staff, with views accross sea.

Thank you for your feedback following your stay

Naturally I was delighted to hear you had a good birthday break at The Grand and took full advantage of the fabulous sea views and time on your hands to relax and unwind

Hopefully we won't have to wait a whole year to see you back at The Grand - after all surely it doesn't have to be always a birthday treat and I feel sure you can find another excuse?!!

Regards

“Service as it should be”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Arrival:
We were met by Charlie the concierge who guided us to reception, arranged for delivery of our luggage to our room and then parked our car - all with a smile and genuine courtesy. In fact all of the staff at this hotel went out of their way to great you with a smile and eye contact, they were all genuinely helpful and made you feel most welcome.
Position:
The hotel is situated directly opposite the beach which offers stunning views if your room is at the front of the hotel this view comes at a premium – it is within a short walking distance of the town and the Pavilion.
Rooms:
Our room (facing the seafront) was large and spacious but unfortunately showed signs of age and neglect, I would only rate it a two star - possibly three star given its sheer size, the bed was large and comfortable and the linen was cotton with soft quilts and pillows - the bathroom was clean functional.
Food:
Fantastic – we had dinner and breakfast, possibly the best I have eaten in a hotel.
Conclusion – if you want to experience 5 star customer service then I would highly recommend this hotel, but be very aware that the accommodation may not be up to the same standard. Would I stay here again ? In an instant!

“WONDERFUL TREAT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We booked in the week between Christmas and the New Year. We got a fantastic deal and a lovely room. The staff were very helpful. After the hassle of Christmas it was lovely to treat ourselves the cost was only a little more than a good b&b £115. Fantastic breakfast. Everything you can think of and then more! We were also very lucky with the weather for that time of the year.
There was a wedding celebration under our room but that did not keep us awake.

Room Tip: Go in an off peak time for a good price and watch for deals.

Thank you for your kind feedback following your stay with friends at The Grand between Christmas and New Year

This was a very busy period for us so I am even more pleased to hear you got a great deal and also were so well looked after when the Hotel was running at capacity. I will pass on your kind comments to the whole team especially the kitchen brigade who are still riding high on the award of their first AA rosette and always like to know that their efforts are worthwhile.

Thank you again for taking time to write

“Nice staff, fun location, terrible value”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We paid £225 a night inc breakfast for a large sea view room. It was lovely and we had a great stay but...We were stung - it was over priced by about £100 a nightt.
the room was cold so we borrowed a portable air on unit, there is no wifi in the room, the room decor was very tired, the room hadn't been properly cleaned - pen and coin on the floor, the hair dryer was one of those pathetic ones glued into a drawer not near a mirror, and breakfast was a bun fight rather than a calm start to the day.
Go on a deal but don t pay rack rate. Oh and get to the bar early if you want a seat.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view, end of corridor. Also I think some rooms have been refurbished, we didn't have...

Thank you for your comments following your recent stay

Our prices vary considerably according to room type chosen (I note that you booked a deluxe sea view room), season, what's on, day of the week, demand etc....This is the case for all the hotels in Brighton however, irrespective, of price paid we always still try to ensure that we offer great value for money so I am sorry you were disappointed

My advice would be that, if you are planning on coming back to The Grand please visit the De Vere website as this is always where you will always find the best rates.

Many thanks for writing

“A Grand Stay in a Grand Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at the Grand Hotel and have not one bad word to say about the whole experience. The staff were friendly and helpful and we could not fault the hospitality. We decided to have dinner at the hotel's King's restaurant and we both agree that we've never had a nicer meal anywhere else (and we eat out a lot!). There was plenty of choice at breakfast- pastries, cooked breakfast, cereal, cold meats, fruit salads or made to order dishes and we enjoyed eating ours looking out to sea. There is no doubt that we will return in future.

Thank you very much for posting your review on Trip Advisor following your recent stay

I am so pleased that you had a good stay and I am very grateful to you for your kind comments. The elements of your stay that you have been so complimentary about are the component parts that we work very hard at to get right (as we know it is so often these that set a hotel apart from it's competitors) so it is always very pleasing to hear we got them right

I will pass on your compliments to the whole team but I know that the Chef will be particularly pleased to hear how much you enjoyed the food.

Thank you again for writing
