“Great place for a weekend break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I booked Artists Residence as a surprise birthday present for my boyfriend and it was perfect - cosy, fun and intimate. I'm so glad I didn't book us into an austere B&B or hotel. We stayed in The Nest, which I was worried might be very poky but it was perfect - it was small but the design made it work. Described as having a 'micro sea view', I was expecting to only be able to see a glimpse of the sea whilst craning out of the window, but it was a great view (just a small window as this room is up in the converted attic). The toiletries and tea and coffee facilities provided were quality (very nice biscuits!) which is a small thing that makes a big difference.

Breakfast, although not included, was reasonably price and there was an interesting menu to chose from. The setting for breakfast is very nice - as with the rest of the place, you feel spending some time eating breakfast and reading the paper in the cafe area.

Will definitely recommend to friends and would happily visit again.

“Bliss-ton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Thank you to the team at Artists Residence for a lovely weekend... I would properly whole heartedly recommend you stay. Actually, I wouldn't, as it might mean I can't get my lovely sea view room next time if it gets too popular....?! Clean, spacious and warm (on a freezing weekend) with imaginative artwork displayed throughout which created an atmosphere, rather than shouting pretentiously in your face. And that, is an art in itself. Hugest thanks, and see you soon.

Room Tip: Number 8 is where I stayed - panoramic superior I think - beautiful!

“Quirky, warm and friendly.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

What a gem of a B&B. If you want somewhere that's not your usual plain B&B or a standard bed factory this place must be top of you list.
We arrived early and were met by a charming young lady who gladly stored our bags whilst we went out into town until our room was ready. The room was fab. Warm, clean and very quirkly. Thinking about the bus bathroom still makes us smile now.
Again, on depature they offered to keep our bags in storage until we were due to catch our train. Just first class service - something some of the larger hotels should take note from.

“Just what we hoped for...”

so, I booked a hotel, unseen, unheard of, for me at least, and turned up hoping for the best and on this occasion it really did fulfill what we hoped for. A really friendly, open welcome that felt genuine. And once the trek up the multiple stairs was negotiated a warm, bright and colourful room really lifted the spirits and made the freezing February weather outside a distant memory. We had a fab breakfast brought to our room by equally smiley staff which was a great luxury topping to a comfortable stay.

Dear *Sarah C*

Thank you for taking the time to complete an online review on your recent stay with us. I am so pleased that we lived up to your expectations and that you had a lovely stay with us here at Artist Residence.

The stairs can be a little bit of a trek but I am glad that you agree it is worth it once you reach the top. People have also commented that it adds to the charm of the building and of course we are a Grade II Regency listed Building.

I hope we can look forward to having you back at Artist Residence in the not so distant future.

Thank you again for your comments.
